Why have active cigarette smokers been consistently shown to have relative protection from #COVID19?
A new paper @Dev_Cell shows a substantial increase of ACE2 expression that is dose-dependent, by @JSheltzer @CSHL @joans @Google and colleagues

Let me add I’d be the last person in the world to support cigarettes or find anything that supports their use. There’s a paradox here with the new @Dev_cell paper. Others have suggested nicotine interactions. A lot more to learn on this topic
