If you looked at the byline, you’ll see this - two journalists; Hina Alam of @CTVNews BC - a #yeg media alum & a damn solid reporter - and Nick Wells. (I’m not familiar with Wells, and this isn’t about him, & I’ve no doubt he’s a solid reporter). #cdnpoli #bcpoli

As often happens with CTV reports, @globeandmail picked up the story and published it under their banner.

With one small (not friggen small at all) change.

Note the byline.

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FLINTSTONES.

TWO reporters worked on this story. TWO. And the original CTV story byline has Hina Alam before Nick Wells. This may be because alphabetical listing, it may be because it was Hina’s work & Nick assisted. We don’t know & it doesn’t matter.

What does matter is @globeandmail dropped Hina Alam - a woman of colour & a damn good reporter - from the byline on a story, & gave sole credit to a white man. (Not an attack on Nick Wells - again, this is not about him). #cdnpoli

A woman who is a solid reporter & who appeared in the original byline - a woman of colour - was stripped of credit for her work by @globeandmail, with sole credit given to the white, male reporter she worked with.

Read that again.

I don’t really GAF if you’re a feminist or not, this should enrage you. This should light the fires of your outrage regardless of your personal ideology. Because Hina Alam worked for that byline, she earned that byline, and @globeandmail stripped it from her.

This crap is why women are angry, and getting angrier by the day. This garbage bullshit white supremacist misogyny is not only unacceptable, it’s exactly what keeps women of colour from reaching their full potential. This. Shit. Right. Here.

I want an answer from @globeandmail. I want to know WTF they think gives them the right to strip a WOC of credit, of her work, of her right to succeed, & give that to a man.
