It is nothing more than a cynical, political distraction from Jason Kenney's failure to make progress on jobs, the economy, or pipelines.
Much of what is contained in the UCP report is far beyond this government’s authority or jurisdiction. But having worked in Ottawa for decades, Kenney would know that.
This UCP report does nothing to build a more diversified and stronger economy. It does nothing to get Albertans back to work.
If Jason Kenney was interested in creating fairness for Albertas, he would ensure Albertans working on the front lines have access to paid sick leave...
He would provide cash support for struggling small businesses... He would rehire the educational staff he fired as they were struggling to support special needs kids at the height of the pandemic.
Fairness would mean reversing Kenney's $4.7 billion handout to already profitable corporations.
Fairness would mean asking the wealthiest one per cent to pay one per cent more, instead of forcing additional costs on everyday, hard-hit Albertans.
