.@HHSGov is supposed to PROTECT our health & wellbeing. This rule targets vulnerable communities who already experience alarming rates of discrimination in care.

It’s unacceptable. We won’t let it stand and we’re fighting back! #StopTheRule

This dangerous health care rule does not change the law.

But it creates chaos and confusion where there was once clarity about everyone's right to receive health care free of discrimination. Trans people in particular are at increased risk of harm under this rule. #StopTheRule

HISTORY:
➡️ 2016: Obama admin finalizes rule implementing nondiscrim protections in Section 1557 of ACA
➡️ 2019: Trump admin announces plans to roll back protections
➡️ 2020: HHS publishes health care discrimination rule, takes effect in 60 days
➡️ Today: We sue! #StopTheRule

The rule would carve out #LGBTQ people from the ACA's nondiscrim protections, inviting health care workers, doctors, hospitals, & insurance companies receiving federal funding to refuse to provide/cover ANY services critical to peoples’ health & wellbeing. #StopTheRule

This discriminatory rule attempts to limit remedies for people who face health disparities & access to care for people with limited english proficiency.

It would also dramatically reduce the # of care entities & insurance companies subject to nondiscrim rules! #StopTheRule

🗣️ MAKE NO MISTAKE: This anti-health care rule serves no other purpose than to target and discriminate against LGBTQ people and other vulnerable patients.
