1.I watched a video of @mahbubani_k discussing his new book Has #China Won with Rob Johnson @INETeconomics in May. I am amazed by his insights into #China and China-USA relations. Here are some of them. Credit

2.#USA launches a major geopolitical contest with #China without first working out a strategy on how to deal with a country whose population is 4 times bigger and with a history of thousands of years while American is only 250 years old.

3. 🇺🇸 has a number of misconceptions of its own strengths and 🇨🇳’s weaknesses.

4. In the past 30 years, the average income of the bottom 50% of the American population has been declining while the average income of the bottom 50% of the Chinese population enjoyed the best 30 years in their living standard in 3000 years.

5.For most of the Chinese history, the bottom 50% of the population struggled to survive, living a rough life dying in famines and civil wars.

At the last 30 years, they had access to education, housing, health care, travel in a way they never had before in their lives.

6. When the Chinese people are enjoying their 30 years of amazing improvement under the #CommunistParty of China (#CPC), #USA asks them to get rid of the #CPC, they must be scratching their heads and asking why?

7. #USA takes it as a given that when a thriving #democracy takes on a #communistparty system, the former will always win evidenced by the cold war.

But the structural change in the #USA means that it has moved away from being a thriving democracy towards becoming a plutocracy.

8. #CPC is the most meritocratic political party in the world. The selection process results in the best minds running China.

So a supposedly contest between a thriving #democracy and a #communistparty system is actually one between a #plutocracy and #meritocracy.

9. The Chinese must measure their success not with what other countries have achieved but with their own history.
In terms of the record of governance, no Chinese government in history has improved the living standard for the Chinese people as much as the #CPC has.

10.The Chinese people suffered 150 years of national humiliation since 1840.
After the Chinese people have their best 30 years in their standard of living, the USA slaps the face of China.

The Chinese people may ask why #USA wants to humiliate us again when we are doing good.

11. The goal of the #CPC is not to export communist ideology but to revive the Chinese civilization and bring back the standing and respect they used to enjoy in history.

12. Some in #USA compare China to the former #SovietUnion. If you look at the record, it is not #China that is acting like the former #SovietUnion;

13. It is the #USA that’s acting like the former #SovietUnion, unable to cut its defence budget in half when the real contest between China and USA should be on R & D.
