A new @MintPress investigation explores how NATO is using memes and online humor to attempt to win a propaganda war against Russia, in the process subjecting the world to some of the unfunniest content ever devised by man.
In November NATO published a study: “Humor in online information warfare: Case study on Russia’s war on Ukraine” which described how jokes and memes could be used to win a propaganda war against Russia.
“Humor…reaches the parts that other countermeasures – like fact-checking or media user education – cannot,” the NATO paper wrote, adding that memes can “exploit social media platform algorithms” and reach audiences that are “not inclined to consume” NATO messaging.
