My first job in #research was as a #clinicaltrialsassistant during my uni years and I quickly learnt it was different from the research taught at university as part of #nursing curriculum #HCPnetwork
It was for a private #research company and involved phase 1&2 trials where new drugs were tested on #healthyvolunteers under strict controlled conditions as per protocol #HCPnetwork
The National Institute for Health Research #NIHR are the largest funder of #health and #care #research in the 🇬🇧 but #charities also #fund a lot of research as well as #Pharmaceutical companies #HCPnetwork
Before any #research is conducted be it #drug #device #questionnaire related, it has to go a rigours system of scrutiny and approvals to ensure that #safety of all those involved. #HCPnetwork
So what do #researchnurses do? @HeatherB18 and @Sammycad77 are two such great #nurses who have worked on numerous studies. Each #clinicalresearch comes with a #protocol of how the study is to be conducted #HCPnetwork
As a research nurse, you are part of a team that helps conduct the research. This can involve you heading the study as a #principalinvestigator , a #studycoordinator or #recruiting participants, #dataentry

Most important of all, are the people who #volunteer to take part in research. Without them there would be NO #research on #newdrugs #newdevices #safetyinmedicine #newmedicaladvances #newtreatments #newprocedures #HCPnetwork #whywedoresearch
