I'd rather talk about #cats than politics tonight. The worst Tallahassee does is knock things off the counter and the table. You don't see her violating the First Amendment or the Posse Comitatus Act. Can keep her and Aphrodite amused with a laser pointer. Life is good.

For those who don't know, we have three cats: the ancient Boadicea, the naughty Tallahassee, and her sister Aphrodite. The sisters are calico Hemingway cats, a breed in the making known for their extra toes and connection to the Nobel Prize-winning author.

The front paws of the sisters look like they are wearing mittens with a pronounced thumb on each foot and extra toes between toes. I don't engage in any cat paw measuring contests, but it satisfies me to say that they are unusual. It's the gloat factor at play.

Little Bo has begun her ragged decline. She was the equivalent of eighty years old on her last birthday. I need to get Lynn's help wrestling her down so I can see if we need to clip her claws because her feet click as she walks.

This helps me know who is at the door of the office. Little Bo only comes in to use the litter box. The sisters want me to play with the laser pointer. If I am not immediately ready to do this, they will start tearing things up and pushing things off desks and shelves.

It is so much easier to contend with the politics of cats. I am sure more than a few of you welcome this respite from the election and Trump's disastrous handling of the pandemic, especially when it is accompanied by pictures.
