@CIAAG_Lauren I am sorry for all you have been through. I read the article and from my perspective (from my involvement) I do believe it can be very toxic. I don’t believe that we necessarily have to have one unified voice. I think it’s a matter of how we address each other. For example, 1/
@CIAAG_Lauren my perspective is that care of those that have #chronicpain is poor in a number of ways not just access to #opioidpainmeds. I personally want care that does utilize multiple tools, strategies & medications & that is individualized. My perspective is more so focused 2/
@CIAAG_Lauren in the area of pediatrics & those transitioning to adult care. My kids’ QoL has improved with opioid pain meds. We’ve tried many different things but that has what has helped them most. Because of the climate I have watched them be misdx with ‘addiction’ removed from meds & 2/
@CIAAG_Lauren and had inappropriate treatment pushed on them. I honestly wish there was a safer medication they could be on. All meds have risks but our family has history with my biological father/grandfathers having SUDs so it concerns me. I want development of better more effective meds 3/
@CIAAG_Lauren That being said there are many, many individuals who are older, who have seen their life turn around due to effective opioid pain meds and now be ripped off of them with no options OR options that they already tried. Opioid pain meds have shown effectiveness for a long 4/
@CIAAG_Lauren time. That healthcare is now throwing them out the window wo other options in place is unethical, harmful and basically real shitty (excuse my language). Again my focus is on access, insurance coverage, better access but I stand firmly behind opioid pain meds being 5/
@CIAAG_Lauren one of those treatments. I work mainly at my state level or with families whose children have the same disease as mine across the nation and world. I don’t think that my efforts are hindered by others but enhanced and vice versa. For me the biggest issue has been what I feel 6/
@CIAAG_Lauren is not addressing the issues or concerns but for lack of better word targeting inds. If there is an issue, if we can address through clarification or questions. Just my thoughts. 7
@CIAAG_Lauren Sorry had to bring daughter to ER per her doc 😢. I wanted to address further the issue of ‘leaders’. Maybe I am 2 new to the community but I am not sure who the ‘leaders’ are. Have I gravitated to inds who I see as mentors? Definitely but I believe very much that we all 8/
@CIAAG_Lauren have a story to tell & our collective stories our powerful. As I said I truly feel as if one of our issues is the way we speak to others and about others. Extreme example but I follow some PROP folks, not AK or SG bc I think they blocked all of us but I do follow a few 9/
@CIAAG_Lauren Others. Do I fundamentally agree with their position? No, but I have had dialogue & I do appreciate that dialogue. I believe as long as dialogue we all can learn and grow. Now that doesn’t mean that I am going through up my hands and say no opioids for my kids bc that has 10/
@CIAAG_Lauren given them the QoL they have. The PROP people I follow, I won’t insult them, won’t dox I will engage in conversations express my viewpoint, my concern etc. that’s just my perspective. I don’t block because I want to hear various perspectives. I want clarification. I do get 11/
@CIAAG_Lauren blocked though. Point being I don’t think we have to all be on same page but we can enhance each other’s efforts and support each other. Maybe I am 2 gullible but I guess I’d rather go with that. Thanks for letting me share 12/
