#Muharram is not a month of grieving nor lamenting.
To learn the lessons of the Martyrdom of Hussain (radyAllahu anhu) at Karbala is not an act of mourning, it's an act of learning and remembering loved ones and commemoration of courage against tyranny.
One way to reflect and relate to Islamic history is that not a month goes by except you tie it to events that took place in that month and you remember and reflect over them.
Muharram notwithstanding, many events took place in this month in Islamic history.
Allah gives us Ramadan for yearly spiritual detox & renewing our vows
Shawal to celebrate our achievements
Dhul Qidah to prep for the greatest days to come
Dhul Hijjah to embody the 5 pillars Islam is founded on in our human journey symbolized by Hajj
& Muharram to be freed
sh Muhammad Mukhtar alShanqiti taught us
"Fasting #Ashura Allah forgives both minor & major sins - except those that deal w others rights"
People who have zero training in Fiqh need to be called out for being a danger to the Muslim community in their commentary.
@mohammed_hijab is an ignorant person on Fiqh and has no qualification, doing takfir in Ramadan on people with absolutely zero und of judicial law.
I call on @HATzortzis and @SapienceOrg and any other organization to reign him in and stop addressing issues he has no business talking about, or remove him as he's a danger and a bad example for the 100,000s of young people following him.
If YouTubers amassing followers and then putting out click bait videos on takfir is becoming the standard of people listening to others, our community needs to stop platforming these individuals.
They do not study. Their humility is none. Their teachers are unknown.
In my Tafsir of Surah Taha ayah 95-99 we wrapped up the story of Musa عليه السلام with Children of Israel and Samiriy
Some amazing points & insight that was relevant to our modern contexts including the following:
- People are misled via propaganda that appeals to their desires
- The lessons of understanding how people are affected by their environment in assimilating to theologies and vices they are engrossed in
- The establishment of faith is through education not just only establishing punishments and consequences in a society.
- The following of faith is in applying the guidance (commandments, prohibitions, guidance in interaction) not just acknowledging the spiritual aspect or accepting theology.
The fact Afg gov has no route to petition leadership who is hiding, no route to hear grievances formally unless "you know someone," and no gov procedure to address concerns public - what do you expect the Afg people to do?
This is despotic behavior & history speaks louder.
No one will be stifled because "security is more important" - war is over youre responsible for people's security.
No one will be dismissed at "look at what occupatio did and corrupt regime for 20 years" - can never dismiss the Afg gov's responsibility for its lacks.
Islamic government is found in the example of the Rashidun caliphate -
Abu Bakr who used to have open call for people to petition government complaints and allow protesting for grievances
Umar who allowed open access to him and would be available even in the masjid.
Some Quran reciters you may have never heard about that are my favorites in this🧵:
1. My good friend, Umar Muhammad Al Qasim
- a student of the late Imam of Masjid Al Nabawi Muhammad Ayyub rahimahullah
& the Imam of Masjid Quba and Masjid Al Nabawi Muhammad Khalil
1st Night of Tarawih 2022
2. His brother, also my good friend
Muhammad Uthman Al Qasim
Dont ask me which brother I like more. I love them both!
When media publish slanted pieces of not even verifying facts like this, it makes it incredibly difficult to have integrity.
Is women's rights are afforded to everyone except for women who wear hijab and niqab?
If a woman is free to wear whatever hijab she would like people also should have tolerance in their perception of these women's choices and not be bigoted.
IEA gov already has announced they are not mandating women cover their faces. People seem to not care about facts.
I find it problematic we as a community demand qualification while we have twitter users and entire platforms regularly speaking on Islam without said qualification.
It's not a selective process.
Ask literally anyone what their qualifications are to make x comments.
If someone's qualifications or teachers are "unknown" then dont learn or listen to them about what Islam means until you do
Abdullah ibn Al Mubarak:
Isnad is from the deen. If it were not for Isnad, anyone would say what they wish.
Muhammad Ibn Sirin:
"This knolwedge is deen, carefully look whom you take your deen from"
