We have done a little bit of everything to help the people who are struggling, the disadvantaged as well as single families and seniors too.

What we do here at HHCC is tailor our food hampers to the individual/family/senior that is making the request. If they are gluten or lactose intolerant, have allergies, are vegan, or have certain religious beliefs...We tailor our hampers to the needs of the individual.

We tailor our hampers in order to have 100% consumption rate and very little waste. We also deliver our hampers to anyone who lives in the City of Calgary. That's right, we are based in Harvest Hills but we cover all of Calgary.

We have three main categories of hampers:
1.) SM: Which ranges from $75.00 to $250.00
2.) MED: Which ranges from $250.00 to $500.00
3.) LRG: Which ranges from $500.00 to $800.00
A SM hamper covers 1-3 individuals, MED hamper covers 4-6, and a LRG hamper covers 6 or more.

Once we have determined the size of hamper needed and we have gotten the list of items needed from the intake forms, we then send our volunteer shoppers out to do the shopping.
We utilize every discount and coupon and we try to shop local for as many items as we can.

We shop in bulk and we even shop at stores that only cater to restaurants and businesses. If for some reason we are not able to help an individual/family/senior...we will refer them to other organizations and programs that are better suited to their particular urgent need.

In any given month we have as little as 5 requests to as many as 100 requests. per week. Usually they are simple requests. For example something as small as a family may need some diapers, wipes, and formula to something as big as a senior may need help paying their rent.

Each hamper we make costs between $75.00 to as high as $800.00 This is why we ask for help This is why we ask for donations. This is why we share and tweet and ask again

Usually when people come to us, we are their last resort. We constantly are emailed, called and dm'd with requests for help. If we are able to help we do, if not we try our best to find help for these individuals elsewhere.
