Tell the 8th grade girl that it’s instructive that in the era of #Trump—a man who has torpedoed the notion of civility/unity, a man who has been credibly accused of sexual assault and misconduct by more than 20 women—any girl or woman is still expected to be polite and get along.
What would the world look like if the energy spent policing language, especially female language, or spent on insisting we “get along” with those who hurt us was invested instead into policing the very real harm of patriarchal violence? 🎥 @rerutled

Because when we socialize girls to always want to “get along” and we stress civility and unity in the face of white supremacy and patriarchal fuckery, girls grow up to become white female #VPDebate2020 moderators who control a Black woman’s speaking more than a white man’s.
