In the hospital in Eupen (East Belgium), visits to the sick have been banned since the weekend (10/11/10/2020). A total of ten patients were brought to the clinic on Saturday.
Two of them are being treated in intensive care, a third had to be brought to the Aachen clinic because he needs special ventilation. With one exception, the Eupen (East Belgium) hospital has been free of Covid since the end of June.
On Monday (October 12th, 2020) the house management wants to assess the situation and advise on possible further protective measures. The number of corona infections in the German-speaking community has more than tripled within the past week. They increased from 16 to 57 cases.
The Prime Minister of the DG, Oliver Paasch (07.10.2020) announced this. With these figures, the German-speaking community is still in relatively good shape compared to the rest of the country. East Belgium is yellow on the corona map,
compared to the warning levels orange and red on other parts of the country. Nevertheless, stricter rules will soon apply in the DG, which the Belgian government has now ordered for the whole of Belgium due to the increasing numbers across the country:
pubs and cafes must close at 11 p.m. on Friday. In addition, each citizen should only be allowed to meet three people at home.
