One of the common misconceptions about the farmer protests against #FarmBills2020 is that the resistance is confined to Punjab, implying that the rest of the country is for the Bills, and the stir is politically motivated. This is a brief thread to counter that propaganda.
The spotlight may be on Punjab, but many states are witnessing agitations and rallies as this @htTweets report explains -

Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh:

It took five minutes to put together this thread based on one publication. A little more time spent on it will throw up far more results surely. That the agitation is widespread can also be gleaned by the call for #8दिसंबर_भारत_बंद.
#Chhattisgarh had protested earlier, and & had joined Punjab & Rajasthan in passing state legislation designed to negate the Centre's #FarmLaws2020.

#Kerala had observed a total shutdown in protest against not just the #FarmLaws but also changes in Labour Laws (which sadly haven't received much attention)

Is Uttar Pradesh's dismal crime record, especially agnst women/Dalits, worsening? Stats will tell but that's only part of the story. This thread chronicles anecdotal recent instances: each with trauma/loss of life & loved ones bereft. What would justice for them look like?... Image

The extent to which #Facebook India is embedding itself into the administrative & business fabric of India ought to concern us, since the BJP is totally sanguine about it. An overview of what might be just a handful of associations. The rest of the thread provides sources... Image

Sunday nights ought to be quiet, but a storm raged across Desi Politics Twitter. Prompted by this @IndiaToday poll.

Voting patterns suggest that there was a concerted attack for a period btwn 10PM-1:30AM IST by people voting for Modi, prompting #BotsJanataParty to trend...
.@IndiaToday had already been mocked mercilessly for a sycophantic poll about the BJP Govt's handling of #COVID19. True to @rahulkanwal's craven form on TV, the poll provided no option to vote the handling as terrible, which it has been in reality, or even just bad...
Back to the "best next PM" poll... at 10PM IST, 77,306 votes had been cast, split evenly between Rahul Gandhi and Modi.

Three & a half hours later, nearly 3,85,000 votes were in, and Modi was at 78%...

India's Health Ministry has gone bonkers. Officially. No wonder #Nonsense_Modi, #NonsenseSambitPatra and the ilk are trending.

In today's briefing, they discussed a Delhi serological survey that tests for presence of relevant antibodies in people...
Nearly 23% of those surveyed were found to have the anti-bodies. If extrapolated & NCT Delhi's population is 2 Crore, this implies 46 Lakh are infected!

Officially confirmed case count is 1 Lakh 23 Thousand!

Yet the slide boldly says "ONLY 22.86% affected"...
No one asked, and officials themselves did not address, why the study results haven't led to large scale resignations of bureaucrats/ministers in Delhi/the Centre...

Neither was the scarier question of implications for rest of India. 23% of India's population is 30 Crore...

Chaube wants us to "see" his Modi reportage over time. Presumably he thinks it's "balanced". He knows no one is going to endure weeks & months of his "reporting" to judge "balance" re Modi.

I am jobless, so I took on a slightly different challenge...
I searched for references to Modi in his tweets in the last one year, and looked at the adjectives/verbs he uses to characterize Modi and Modi's actions. Routine sentiment analysis.

I stopped at 1 year because I am not THAT jobless.

Surprise!...
I challenge @bhupendrachaube to find 1 tweet over 1 year, in which he uses "Modi", that is critical of Modi or his actions.

Not govt, BJP, minister or partyworker. Modi.

[Saying Modi looks overworked won't count, OK?]

After all, Modi is human (or is he not?). Errs sometimes...

The @MoHFW_India's daily case count doesn't add up. Their numbers are delayed/jumbled up for some states. This MoHFW tweet says, at 6:30PM IST, 16th March, there are 114 cases which INCLUDE 10 discharged, 3 cured and 2 dead...
This 114 count can also be found on their website, IF you assume that the 13 cured/discharged and the 2 dead are INCLUDED in the Confirmed Cases (Indians/Foreigners).

In at least 3 states, the numbers don't match counts from other sources...

1st, Maharashtra: @DeccanHerald reports 37 at 12:55PM, 16th Mar. MoHFW says 32. Is MoHFW behind by a day? Not likely, because 4 cases were added today; yesterday's count was 33. Behind by more than a day? Perhaps...
