Slovakia has exceeded the limit of more than 4,000 confirmed new corona infections per day for the first time. In total, the health authorities reported 4046 new cases after PCR testing.
The medical association and other health organizations had already warned of a collapse of the hospitals and accused the government of a chaotic corona policy. Most shops have been closed since Saturday.
Only grocery stores, pharmacies, petrol stations and other sales outlets necessary for the basic supplies of the population are allowed to keep open. Exit restrictions have also been in effect since Saturday, compliance with which the police control.
Going to work and exercising in the fresh air are also permitted. The fact that skiing is part of exercise in the fresh air and that two households are allowed to spend the night together in winter sports centers caused criticism in the media.
One of the most famous ski centers in the country belongs to the right-wing populist parliamentary president Boris Kollar.
