BREAKING—San Diego County reports 28 new cases with the B117 #SARSCoV2 mutation first found in 🇬🇧, raising county's total to 32. #COVID19
P.s. San Diego County also now says none of the new coronavirus cases with the UK B117 variant has a travel history.
3) the new 🇬🇧B117 is a beast of a #SARSCoV2 variant. The variant adds ~ 0.4-0.7 to the R (Reproductive number). What could keep in check via containment, R<1, now with +0.5 added infectiousness, means the virus will go unchecked—very bad. #COVID19

JUST IN—we can expect 405,000–438,000 total #COVID19 deaths in the United States **by January 30 alone** if current models hold. They don’t fully account for the more contagious B117 variant though, with 40-80% greater transmissibility.

2) Feb could be a LOT LOT worse. Death surges lag cases by 3 weeks. And we will see the spikes from the #CapitolRiots in coming weeks.

2) The Denmark 🇩🇰 CDC released this model yesterday. They are now so certain the new virus B117 strain will take over the country (and the world) by Feb and March that they show what currently happens will longer work unless we have epic suppression now!

WHOA—The US Capitol siege today started at this exact moment — when the Capitol police were completely caught off guard when rioters stormed the fence and overran them. Where was the backup? Why wasn’t the National Guard pre-stationed there? So angry. 😡
