Can we talk honestly about doctors for a minute?
We are human.
Like in many other areas of work there is stress - we know this going in.
Some days are tough.
The pandemic has been a long hard journey for many of us.
I worry about burnout...

(a thread)
This was eloquently discussed on @TheCurrentCBC today:
cbc.ca/radio/thecurre…

As I listened I had an increased sadness for my colleagues in Alberta right now...
You see, for the months leading up to the pandemic we saw a coordinated effort by the Alberta premier, health minister, his issues managers and the health ministry to attack and demoralize our profession. The attacks are recorded in press conferences and social media posts...
This effort continued as we were preparing our battle lines for the pandemic.
We started Zoom meetings, shared any information on the virus we could get our hands on.
We shifted how we provided care with a focus on the health of Albertans, all the while the pot shots continued...
Fortunately in Alberta we have the @Albertadoctors Physician and Family Support Program.
I called in this summer.
Between the stress of work and the attempted demoralization from our government, PFSP was essential for my own health...

So this comes as no surprise to me 👇🏻
After the attacks, the gaslighting, the lack of support during the pandemic, this may be the last straw for some Alberta doctors...
This quote gets many of us through scary times 👇🏻

I can tell you this: I have looked for the helpers. We know who they are and will never forget their kindness.

I also see those who are the opposite of helpers. We will also never forget who they are.

We started with a change in social media presence for Alberta Health ... used to be a source of great public health information
It turned into a propaganda channel against your Alberta physicians (stay tuned ... imagine the nurses are next)
See the before and after shots:
Then negotiations broke down between the @Albertadoctors and @shandro

Teenager and I had some time today to consider the plot lines in #GameOfThornes and we concluded that the presence of a skilled ObGyn would have changed everything... think about it...

Had Joanna Lannister survived childbirth, maybe Tyrion would not have been so hated by his father and sister
Had Lyanna Stark had proper management of her postpartum hemorrhage, Jon Snow would have known Daenerys was his aunt
