Contract broken (with the power of Bill 21)
Unilateral changes made to how Alberta physicians are paid for their work
calgaryherald.com/news/politics/…
- waded through the changes to realize I may not be able to keep my clinic open without altering patient care
- realizing there are many numbers withheld in the changes (my in hospital work, my malpractice insurance) so I cannot even plan for change
- despair from those hardest hit (family MDs)
- uncertainty from other ObGyns
- frustration from residents/new grads who hoped to contribute to healthcare in AB but now looking elsewhere
- anger from friends who lived through the Klein years
I am a born and bred Albertan. I went to ON and NS to train and returned to bring my skills to serve Albertans. I am now demonized for this.
I am very worried for healthcare in the province I love.
#ABdocs4patients
Do I look to another province or country to bring my skills?
Do I stay and fight for the patients, who honestly make it all worth while?
Looking for suggestions...
