How to deal with being gaslit.

Identify that you're actually being gaslit: Before you take any action, be sure of what the situation is. Gaslighting is a continuous thing, not something that happens just when the person has a bad day.

Step away from the situation to calm down.
When you're being gaslit, it is normal for you to feel a range of strong emotions- anger, frustration, sadness, fear, worry, etc. But it is important that you don't let these emotions guide your reaction to them.
You want to deal with the situation in a rational manner. Step away for a while; do some breathing exercises, take a walk.
Keep receipts.
Once you realize what's going on, take receipts and keep proper documentation. A gaslighter will try to make you question your reality and lie to others about your motives.
But it is very hard to argue with hard facts. Take screenshots of conversations, take pictures, note the date and time of important events, record conversations with your phone. They will come in handy.
Challenge them.
One of the reasons gaslighting works is because they make you doubt yourself, confusing you into submission and silence.
But, you felt what you felt, saw what you saw; hold on to that and challenge them. Speak up, even if your voice is trembling until you gain the confidence to speak without doubting yourself.
Practice self-care.
Gaslighting can become very toxic and abusive that it affects your self-esteem. Practice self care and surround yourself with positive people that can support you with words of affirmations and reinforcement.

No, you're not crazy. Yes, you deserve better.
Gaslighting is a very serious issue, one of those that leaves nasty scars that might be difficult to deal with, if left unchecked.

We hope you find this helpful

Going broke sucks. Everybody that has never been really broke knows this.

#Picksmic #Dropsmic #mentallyawareng #MentalHealthMatters
We get broke for different reasons. While sometimes it's because the economy is bad and times are hard, other times it's because we're overstretching ourselves beyond our pockets.

#PicksMic #Dropsmic
If you're constantly trying to compete with people that earn more than you, people that can afford more things than you can afford, then it will really be difficult not to go broke.

Our post regarding what to do with toxic family members had a number of people asking how they'd know if they are in a toxic relationship with their families. We hope this sheds more light on it. 1/1

How to recognize toxic family members.

When you spend some time with them, you feel "shitty" when you leave them. 1/2

They criticize everything you do, and usually not in a kind way. You just can't do anything right, according to them. 1/3

Survivors guilt is a type of self guilt that we sometimes experience after a traumatic event. It is a symptom of PTSD but can be experienced in the absence of a PTSD diagnosis.

/1 #SurvivingGuilt
The extent and severity can vary from person to person and symptoms can be both psychological (feelings of guilt, nightmares, flashbacks, irritability, helplessness, lack of motivation) and physical (numbness, difficulty sleeping, racing heart, stomach aches) /2

#SurvivingGuilt
While not everyone feels survivor’s guilt, it is not uncommon after experiencing some type of trauma. And while it can be quite common, this does not mean that it is not serious or that it does not require some sort of intervention or treatment. /3
