@KPcolorado knew a vaccine was coming for at least 9 months, but didn't use the time to construct systems to ensure efficient and timely vaccinations of seniors.

essentially tax dollars were wasted. We will need investigations and transparency so future public health disasters are better handled. @jaredpolis put senior lives in the hands of providers that lack the capacity

and the capability for an essential task. This despite reams of research that says provider communication is key to successful health outcomes.
We knew our health system was piss-poor at managing #chronicdisease- CVD, metabolic syndrome, obesity

But the informed observation is that we were better at acute disease. But in this year-long disaster there have been two huge letdowns- the basic blocking and tackling of #publichealth (test, track, isolate) and with #translationalmedicine

has disappointed in finding and deploying therapeutics. We may track this back to holes in basic science and underfunded #virology. The @PeterHotez experience with the funding stop for coronavirus vaccines? Have we prioritized properly the entire funding of basic

health research? Do we have modeling on the periodicity of pandemic disease, given the past century's massive population explosion and climate change? (the answer is yes, but it hasn't moved the policy needle)

are we doing enough to reduce #zoonotic leaps? The criticism directed at @WHO has been designed for political point-scoring, but what about answering for global failures in public health? And what about the #epistemological failures in #virology? In nutrition and immune support?

Was micronutrient deficiency key to both transmission and disease course (retrospectives on D3 and critical disease course scream yes)? but there is no public health messaging on these key issues. WHY? These are all paramount questions. Answers should map the road forward.
