Bhagadatta participated in the war on the side of Kaurava’s.He had a huge,strong &an almost undefeatable elephant ‘Supratika’.

Depicts Bhima held in trunk of Supratika.As he tried to injure Supratika while going underneath it but in vain.Also Bhima is seen attacking Bhagadatta with mace.
Bhagadatta was Raja of Pragjyotisha Kingdom.He was extremely skilled in using elephants in warfare.Arjuna defeated Bhagadatta during time of Raja-suya yagya performed by Yudhishthira.He considered Pandavas as his enemies from that defeat.
Bhagadatta supported Kauravas in Kurushetra war & on 12th day he started killing Pandava’s army in huge numbers while mounted on his elephant Supratika.Bhima tried to fight & tried to injure Supratika while going underneath.Elephant almost crushed Bhima but he was able to escape.
Many Pandava warriors and elephants tried to stop Bhagadatta but in vain. Arjuna entered & with his arrows killed soldiers who were protecting Supratika’s legs. Fierce battle started between Arjuna& Bhagadatta.

Bhagadatta attacked Arjuna but arjunaneutralized.Enraged Bhagadatta attacked Arjuna with Vaishnavastra but,Krishna took it upon himself which became a garland.After this Arjuna killed Supratika.Arjuna then attacked him with arrows.He succumbed to this injury&died on battlefield.

It is believed that this is birth place of Kashyapa Maharishi’s sons, Arunan& Garudan. Arunan(charioteer of Surya)was physically handicapped.He was a Shiva devotee.Arunan wanted to visit Kailash to have Shiva Darshan,but Surya Dev denied permission.
So Arunan disguised as a girl & was on his way to Kailash.On the way Surya Dev saw this girl & outraged her modesty.Shiva was very angry with Suryan for misbehaviour & cursed him to get darkened. Whole world plunged into darkness.Surya Dev pleaded to Bhagwan Shiv to forgive him.

#Legend #story - Raja Varaguna Pandyan wanted to create a life-size Natarajar,so asked sculptor (Sthapathi)to do so in panchaloha metal.Despite his continuous efforts,sthapathi was unable to make a murti taller than 3 feet.Raja gave him some more time to work on Nataraja murthi
Raja warned Sculptor that if he did not accomplish the task,his head would be chopped off.As the deadline approached,worried & frantic head sthapathi prayed to Bhagwan Shiva for help.Sthapathi kept the next batch of molten metal ready to pour into the mold.
