For many companies across industries, #hybridwork will become the norm. Studies say employees prefer being mainly remote with occasional trips to the office to collaborate together. Here's why I believe the shift to hybrid will be massive and what drives it - a #thread 👇
1. After a year of #remote work under less than ideal circumstances, employees expect flexibility and freedom, because they've shown they deserve it. Fewer employees than ever are ready to accept the commutes, the 9-5, and showing up to the #office just to be there 🤷♀️
2. Now we know the values of remote work, but we've also extracted the things we love most about workspaces and want to recreate them. The offices have benefits for collaboration, creative thinking, and human connection and people want those things back but without the faults.
3. This means the purpose of the office has changed significantly, and companies need to reflect it in their actual spaces. An office is a place for experiences now, and its designs and use-cases must show that shift and acknowledge it 🙌
4. The various forms of flexible workspaces make it easy for companies to choose a model they like. In their existing spaces, they could use #hotdesking, desk hoteling, or activity-based working to shape and monitor the space use.
5. If existing offices are downsized, employees can use coworking spaces or on-demand platforms of neighborhood workspaces like @gable_inc that provide both flexibility and productivity.
6. Our workplaces will be defined by new technologies too: just think of all the #HealthTech we'll be implementing to monitor cleanliness, limit space use, distribute #healthcare questionnaires, and ensure everything is sanitized.
7. Finally, employers will need to come up with and enforce their hybrid workplace #strategy - it ensures #visibility and #equality for everyone, drafts different scenarios for various roles, and provides a well-thought approach to this fluid and #dynamic workplace shift.
8. I believe this will be the biggest #workplace shift in decades, and I can't wait to see it unfold 🤩 You can find more of my thoughts and musings on this topic, along with some #studies here 👇 bit.ly/3cNWdRH
