Recently i was talking to a Thozhar from TN about the Eelam conflict and like many other comrades,he too kept talking about the unity of the proletariat as a solution to the conflict. In Eezham oppression against Tamils was done with the support of the Sinhala masses/
working class. The JVP insurgency too wasn't a class struggle, it was more of a caste struggle. The Nationalist manifestation of Tamil Marxism wasn't a choice, it was the only option available to the struggle because we were oppressed as Tamils and not as a working class.
The Sinhala Only Policy, the numerous anti Tamil riots, were all popular amongst the Sinhala working class. The only other form of hatred that exceeded their hatred towards Tamils, was their hatred towards India.
The only form of Marxists who stood by Tamils, were Tamil Marxists. Interestingly even Tamil Communist/Marxist from our other homeland, Tamil Nadu too didn't support us, because they were busy being Indians.
The only form of solidarity Eelam Tamils had from TN was in the form of the Dravidian movement and Tamil Nationalism. The Dravidian parties too turned against Eelam in 2009. So we as Tamils, only have the support of our Nation. We stand in solidarity with everyone,
But no one stands in solidarity with us. So the whole internationalist approach to class struggle is a fucking scam. In South Asia or in post colonial countries, class struggle only succeeded when it took the form of a Nationalist struggle.
