Do vaccines lower transmission? YES, absolutely.

How much? By a lot—75% to 94% in recent studies.

Do vaccines completely eliminate any and all transmission? NO.

That is why we still need to mask after vaccinating until cases are very low or zero. #COVID19

2) This was why I was fuming almost 3 days ago when I heard it. I asked @CDCDirector to retract, and last night she did.

4) It upset me because Rand Paul was citing her interview words and abusing it for his agenda.
5) Here is the other new CDC study with asymptomatic transmission— note that 90% does not equal 100%. That’s why we still mask.
6) Also, it’s not always 75-94% either. For AstraZeneca and asymptomatic #B117 it’s much lower for efficacy ~29% (with wide error bars).
7) at the end of the day, don’t be like Chile 🇨🇱 and immediately loosen all mitigation as soon as vaccinations begin. Or else this will happen...
