(1) Well, news of an attack near the US Capitol with one LEO killed and another injured is NOT how I like to wake up in the morning.

Especially when it's met with far right denialism of what was done to our brave USCP earlier this year.

And no I will NOT move on from 1/6.
(2) MAGA folk are denying some of the relevant facts. IDC who rammed a vehicle into a barrier or why. It doesn't matter.

What matters to me is that the very people who educated me about backing the blue and, separately, having a no excuses attitude to life, are full of excuses.
(3) Prior to 1/6 I had every expectation that whenever a criminal injures or kills an LEO, MAGA folk could be relied upon to show empathy for the LEO & his or her family.

Of all that I saw that day, it was the conditional support for LEOs that gave me the biggest push, out.
(4) We rely on LEOs (and where needed, troops for crowd control) for our safety. Having worked in a legislative building complex, I know what it's like to have to use a side entrance to go out for lunch because a crazed anti-gov lunatic is watching the front door & filming staff.
(5) I tell ya, it is stressful working in such a building, knowing that some of the nation's most dangerous criminals are likely to regularly remind you that your workplace is higher risk than others.

1/6 was an aggravated attack BECAUSE OF the nature of the target.
(6) I take an ongoing interest in the security of gov buildings, transportation, & personnel. Since 2016 I've studied each report of an attempted breach of White House security. Often these incidents were "suicide by cop." IMO that's not the main issue to take into account.
(7) IMO the main issue in this type of attempted security breach is the effectiveness of the security measures in place at the time, not the attacker's motive.

Regardless of which barrier was attacked today, it is appropriate to consider the context, & that includes 1/6.
(8) The context of today's attack is this: Just days ago the man who was Commander in Chief on 1/6 lied about the (approx) 800 people who crossed the security line, beat up cops with improvised weapons, & contributed to 3 LEO deaths. (2 were suicides, 1 is under investigation.)
(9) "Zero threat."

This latest denial of the facts is an even stronger reason for those of us who want the USA to be a nation of laws to fight against the continued disinformation of Trump & co about 1/6.

I'll summarize my rebuttal in a separate thread & link it below.
(10) To give you an example, the first tweet of this thread provoked this reply, before I'd even finished writing the thread. My rebuttal thread will address the points raised.

Most 1/6 deniers on Twitter are merely brainwashed people, but some know they're lying.
(11) Update: Today's attacker is reportedly 25yo Noah Ricardo Green, an African American supporter of Nation of Islam & Louis Farrakhan.

Accordingly, MAGA folk are shouting this from the rooftops & predicting their opponents will now stop focusing on the story.

No, we won't.
(12) And other critics of Trump concerning 1/6 won't stop focusing on this story, either. Because it affects the safety and welfare of occupants of the Capitol complex, including everyone from minimum wage workers to LEOs, Congressmen and women and, at times, the POTUS & VP.
(13) Y'all are quick to support combat veterans with PTSD, & you seem to accept that the disorder can lead to desperate acts, violence, & suicide.

I've had PTSD for years.

Hundreds of innocent Capitol workers now have PTSD from 1/6. Every "lone wolf" attack affects them.
(14) I acquired PTSD when an earthquake killed 185 people in my town. The disorder means you can be triggered by ANY critical incident, or even a potential one.

Using blame, denial & minimization about 1/6 really sticks in my craw.

I will never stop calling it out.
(15) Did you know that on 1/6 while politicians were taken to a secure area for lockdown, many of their staff had to stay locked in their office suites for hours, hoping & praying the rioters didn't break in?

While Trump failed in his duty to deploy the DCNG. (Yes. Look it up.)
(16) Every time I say this, brainwashed MAGA folk claim a sitting POTUS would somehow have to take no for an answer if he or she wanted to deploy the DCNG during an emergency.

A memo of 1/5 even clarified that the Acting Sec of Defense had the job. Trump could've ordered him.
(17) I don't even need to mention the weeks of encouragement of the rioters by Trump because his failure to respond appropriately that day (ie not hours later) is damning enough.

These questions are currently under FBI investigation:
(18) Trump seemed to have no problem with the DCNG deterring potential vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial on 6/2/20.

He had enough troops under his command to have formed a much more effective security line around the Capitol on 1/6 than what he already knew local LE would.
(19) The Trump and MAGA "influencer" narrative about 1/6 falls apart at the slightest factual challenge to it.

I was already studying the available facts about it in mid December and tweeted this one week prior:
(20) In the intervening week it became clear to me that the "Constitutional remedies" for what seemed like electoral fraud in some states would not be possible on 1/6. MAGA Congressmen and women had promised followers they'd present evidence in the joint session. They failed to.
(21) And at that time I predicted some of the prosecutions of MAGA folk at a "mostly peaceful" rally would be improper. That was a miscalculation.

The 300-400 MAGA rioters indicted or about to be indicted broke the law by knowingly crossing the security line, at a minimum.
(22) Time for a second thread about the 4/2/21 vehicle ramming attack at the US Capitol. Link below.

An inconvenient fact for MAGA world is that this Capitol attacker and Ashlee Babbitt had a lot in common. Read this: heavy.com/news/noah-gree…

(1) Thread 2: Vehicle ramming attack at US Capitol 4/2/21

My first thread on the subject is:

Message for MAGA folk: I am now Ex-MAGA and I will NOT move on from talking about 1/6.

accountability.gop/about/
(2) I ended Thread 1 with this information:

An inconvenient fact for MAGA world is that this Capitol attacker and Ashlee Babbitt had a lot in common. Read this: heavy.com/news/noah-gree…
(3) My apologies for misspelling the name of Ashli Babbitt.

On 1/6 when her name was released I looked to see if she had a Twitter account. I found it and took several screenshots, including this one:

(1) Last night in Orange County, CA, 4 people were murdered with a firearm, apparently at their family business.

From the first report of the shooting I knew better than to ascribe a political motive, & was proven right.

Most shootings are personal.

heavy.com/news/aminadab-…
(2) Others were politicizing this tragedy. I tend to discuss politics when it's a politically motivated shooting. But the fact that others try to politicize them, means I want to counter that.

The main reason 2A supporters fight for their rights is to enable self defense.
(3) In addition to firearms being one of the most effective ways to save your life and that of others, they also act as a deterrent to would-be tyrants. Like nuclear weapons, their presence has an effect, without ever needing to use them.

Let's talk about self defense.

(1) Sorry @benshapiro but if you're correctly reported here, you're wrong & you're not helping the GOP cause.

There are measurable differences btwn the number of polling stations in majority black areas vs majority white areas in certain states eg GA.

We should change that.
(2) If the Georgia GOP wants to show it believes in equality of access to polling stations then it should work on making sure they are more fairly distributed throughout the state.

You and I would drive for miles to be able to vote but not everyone has a car or much gas money.
(3) For years, I've seen instances of drastically reducing the number of polling stations in certain areas right before election day, across the US.

Here's one example, but it wasn't the GOP that time.

(1) Football (soccer) is huge in the UK, esp. in England. All the major clubs have ardent fans around the world, including @Arsenal, with a fans' YouTube channel @AFTVmedia.

Former AFTV personality Claude Callegari died two days ago aged 58.

AFTV had dropped him in 2020.
(2) Fans of #RIPClaude have said he was open a few years ago about having mental health struggles. Later, he he was fired after making a racist comment on a livestream in July 2020. More recently, he fended off hateful tweets & alluded to thoughts of suicide.
(3) It appears he died by suicide.

Kudos to @max69752565 for tweeting these suicide hotline numbers for various countries.

It's good practice to provide these whenever you write about the issue. I support talking about it; others claim it's better not to. IMO they are wrong.

(1) An interesting development in Georgia, where so many current controversies seem to be playing out.

I watched this clip then ended up finding out who Mary Norwood is: ajc.com/news/atlanta-n…
(2) Gotta say I am rather unimpressed by Mary Norwood. Either say you're a Trump supporter or not. It's pretty simple.

How in the world you expect to get elected to anything in ATL in future is beyond me.

So many people have aligned themselves with Sidney Powell. Not smart.
(3) Regarding the GA state speaker's letter to the ATL Mayor about street crime there... yikes. Both politicians are missing the point but at least the Mayor doesn't align herself with those who condone domestic terrorism, AFAIK.

I'm referring to the Trump faction of the GOP.

(1) The latest example of stupidity by activists trying to politicize everything, often by referring to race.

Both sides do it! This time it's the MAGA crowd. I don't call them conservatives, bc I'm part of the #PostTrumpGOP trying to save the party from the toxic Trump brand.
(2) The alleged murder happened 4 days ago. MAGA activists have jumped to conclusions iso taking just 10 minutes to find the facts.

It was the DC Met Police who used the term "accident," not particularly CNN.

It was clumsy but it's not unusual for LEOs to use the term.
(3) Read the PD statement below. As usual, the first they heard of the incident was when a bystander reported what he or she thought was a car accident. Only later did the PD find it was an alleged murder and car crash/wreck.
