An inconvenient fact for MAGA world is that this Capitol attacker and Ashlee Babbitt had a lot in common. Read this: heavy.com/news/noah-gree…
(3) My apologies for misspelling the name of Ashli Babbitt.
On 1/6 when her name was released I looked to see if she had a Twitter account. I found it and took several screenshots, including this one:
(4) There's 3 Q delusion phrases in the tweet. The rest of her Twitter activity I saw before deletion showed the usual plethora of brainwashing, lies, and defamation of public figures that typify retweeted Q material.
Ofc, the beliefs of the law abiding do not justify death.
(5) As I read the tweets Ashli Babbitt had made, RTd or liked in her final days I felt massive sadness for her & her loved ones.
We don't know how many people bought the Q delusion but it's easily in the millions. That alone means 1/6 must never be forgotten.
(6) So, make no mistake: I do not believe Ashli deserved to die.
But I do believe the LEO who caused her death was acting within the law, and saved many innocent lives. And I know his life will never be the same.
(1) Well, news of an attack near the US Capitol with one LEO killed and another injured is NOT how I like to wake up in the morning.
Especially when it's met with far right denialism of what was done to our brave USCP earlier this year.
And no I will NOT move on from 1/6.
(2) MAGA folk are denying some of the relevant facts. IDC who rammed a vehicle into a barrier or why. It doesn't matter.
What matters to me is that the very people who educated me about backing the blue and, separately, having a no excuses attitude to life, are full of excuses.
(3) Prior to 1/6 I had every expectation that whenever a criminal injures or kills an LEO, MAGA folk could be relied upon to show empathy for the LEO & his or her family.
Of all that I saw that day, it was the conditional support for LEOs that gave me the biggest push, out.
(2) Others were politicizing this tragedy. I tend to discuss politics when it's a politically motivated shooting. But the fact that others try to politicize them, means I want to counter that.
The main reason 2A supporters fight for their rights is to enable self defense.
(3) In addition to firearms being one of the most effective ways to save your life and that of others, they also act as a deterrent to would-be tyrants. Like nuclear weapons, their presence has an effect, without ever needing to use them.
(1) Sorry @benshapiro but if you're correctly reported here, you're wrong & you're not helping the GOP cause.
There are measurable differences btwn the number of polling stations in majority black areas vs majority white areas in certain states eg GA.
We should change that.
(2) If the Georgia GOP wants to show it believes in equality of access to polling stations then it should work on making sure they are more fairly distributed throughout the state.
You and I would drive for miles to be able to vote but not everyone has a car or much gas money.
(3) For years, I've seen instances of drastically reducing the number of polling stations in certain areas right before election day, across the US.
Here's one example, but it wasn't the GOP that time.
(1) Football (soccer) is huge in the UK, esp. in England. All the major clubs have ardent fans around the world, including @Arsenal, with a fans' YouTube channel @AFTVmedia.
Former AFTV personality Claude Callegari died two days ago aged 58.
AFTV had dropped him in 2020.
(2) Fans of #RIPClaude have said he was open a few years ago about having mental health struggles. Later, he he was fired after making a racist comment on a livestream in July 2020. More recently, he fended off hateful tweets & alluded to thoughts of suicide.
(3) It appears he died by suicide.
Kudos to @max69752565 for tweeting these suicide hotline numbers for various countries.
It's good practice to provide these whenever you write about the issue. I support talking about it; others claim it's better not to. IMO they are wrong.
(2) Gotta say I am rather unimpressed by Mary Norwood. Either say you're a Trump supporter or not. It's pretty simple.
How in the world you expect to get elected to anything in ATL in future is beyond me.
So many people have aligned themselves with Sidney Powell. Not smart.
(3) Regarding the GA state speaker's letter to the ATL Mayor about street crime there... yikes. Both politicians are missing the point but at least the Mayor doesn't align herself with those who condone domestic terrorism, AFAIK.
(1) The latest example of stupidity by activists trying to politicize everything, often by referring to race.
Both sides do it! This time it's the MAGA crowd. I don't call them conservatives, bc I'm part of the #PostTrumpGOP trying to save the party from the toxic Trump brand.
(2) The alleged murder happened 4 days ago. MAGA activists have jumped to conclusions iso taking just 10 minutes to find the facts.
It was the DC Met Police who used the term "accident," not particularly CNN.
It was clumsy but it's not unusual for LEOs to use the term.
(3) Read the PD statement below. As usual, the first they heard of the incident was when a bystander reported what he or she thought was a car accident. Only later did the PD find it was an alleged murder and car crash/wreck.
