1. 10 days paid DV leave for victims with 10-20 hours of free intensive counselling over those 10 days.
π #auspol#insiders
2. 10 days paid DV leave for perpetrators with daily or twice daily check-ins at a police station and 20 hours of free intensive counselling over those 10 days.
This 10 day period is critical to diffuse tensions.
π #auspol#insiders
We have to fix both sides of the problem and that can only happen by giving both the victim & perpetrator 10 days paid leave & the support/monitoring they need to diffuse the tension & change behaviour in this critical 10 day period.
π #auspol#insiders
3. Any breach of DVO should be met with mandatory daily check-ins with police, an ankle bracelet fitted and mandatory 20 hours of free intensive counselling over 10 days
π #auspol#insiders
4. A DVO register so potential future partners can have an official website to check if they are entering a relationship that could be potentially dangerous.
Past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour.
π #auspol#insiders
5. Any serious physical DVO breach (i.e breaching the physical distance rule from victim/their work/home/family) or more than two or more minor breach (i.e. texting, calling, written correspondence) would result in a mandatory registered conviction
π #auspol#insiders
A registered conviction is a subtle way to 'name & shame' bcuz when a conviction is recorded the perp must declare to current/future employers. It prevents overseas travel & other privileges of civilized society
It makes perp acknowledge their DV w/ peers
π #auspol#insiders
I think we have to work together - i.e. with both victim & perp - to solve both sides of this problem to break the cycle.
Currently, we're trying to solve one side of the problem & we're wondering why it's not working.
Way back in December 2019, remember @senbmckenzie was the then Agriculture Minister?
She resigned in disgrace from the Ministry in Feb 2020

When Bridge was Minister for Agriculture, she approved this 'Ad hoc/One-off' grant to Rural Business Tasmania for $349,999.99 for the purpose of: 'Support Rural Financial Counselling Service Programme'
They are currently promoted on the Dept of Ag website.

Now, here's the interesting part
You may recall that Bridge was once married to Tim Edwards & they had four kids before divorcing.
In her first speech to parliament she paid tribute to her children.

Dan Andrews says the medical advice given to him is that they must assume there are more cases in the community, bcuz current cases are the UK strain which transmits so fast

So, I've been having a squizz at the latest politicians' expenses claims
Not sure if you've noticed the glaring anomaly but I did @ipeaAusGov
You might want to take a second look at @senator_sam's expense claims, particularly her 'Travel Allowance'
π #auspol#qt
I noticed @senator_sam claimed travel allowance for 98 nights July-Sept qtr
Bit odd given there's only 91 days in the July-September quarter! (Then I worked out she back-dated some travel allowance expenses)
Total claimed $24,676 for travel allowance for the qtr

Sometimes it's a bit hard with Senators, they're usually all over the state, committees & lots of things, so I thought I'd compare Senator Sam with all the other senators.
Yep, just as I thought, no other Senator came within cooee of Senator Sam
