1/Why is Alberta the most shameful example of failure in North America at this stage of the pandemic? It’s simple. Our leader has failed us. His party has failed us. Not one elected member of the governing party in this province has the courage or compassion to say: “Enough.”
2/Not one member of the UCP has stood up & represented their constituents. Not one has said their constituents deserve better access to vaccines as they serve on the front lines. Not one has said our children, teachers & school staff are in harm’s way.
3/Not one member of this governing party has stood up for healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, emergency medical responders, restaurant staff, retail clerks… the list goes on. Their pandemic mitigation strategy has been & continues to be a gamble - with our lives.
4/While this provincial government tucks itself away from decision-making and accountability for the next 2 weeks, we must persist in calling out their inaction. We must persist in demanding an actual plan to contain the spread & reduce transmissions. We cannot be silent.
5/Cranking up the pressure on this government is the only chance we have that they will act in our collective best interest. They do not respond to reason or logic. They do not understand the concept of shame. They completely lack respect for the people they serve.
6/To close, I encourage you to stay vocal & demand better. We have witnessed reversals on other ridiculous plans they have had. We can only hope that continued pressure will force them to walk back personal responsibility & enact an actual pandemic strategy that saves lives.
