“No one ever asks men, ‘don’t you think violence against women begets violence?’, because [violence against women is] a normalised and expected violence,”
“But then when I talk about my right to defend myself, when I talk about beating up a man in a club [who sexually assaulted me], people are like...no, no, we shouldn’t be adding violence. I’m like: What do you mean, adding violence?  Violence exists & it exists in those in power”

There is no liberation without queer, gender, and sexual liberation.

For #IDAHOBIT, reposting this from March 6, 2020, when dear friend #Egyptian drag queen Ana Masreya invited me to speak at her show Nefertitties. It was just before our lockdown in #NYC.
May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia.

I'm writing more about being childfree by choice.
When I started saying in public lectures that I was childfree by choice, women would track me down in a corridor, backstage, or in the bathroom to whisper “Thank you. I have never heard another woman say that out loud before.” feministgiant.com/p/unmothering
Most books/essays I have seen about being childfree by choice are written by white cis women. We need to hear from more women of colour and women from different cultural and faith backgrounds as well as trans men and non-binary people who choose to be childfree. I will write more

I FaceTime videod with my parents today to say Happy #Eid I told my dad that in the full throes of #perimenopause I was having allergies —a family tradition. I told him that if I don’t have another period by October I will be free!

“Have a party!” he said.

“I will!” I replied
