#B1617 ARRIVAL—we just now learn that the #B1617 Indian variants first arrived in NYC in April 5-11th, but retroactively reported now. It has grown in NYC, just as #P1 from Brazil 🇧🇷 also increases in %.

2) there is a ton of concern about the specific #B16172 sub lineage of #B1617, because it is even faster transmission than the already faster #B117. This was a warning this week from the U.K. 🇬🇧 govt report.
3) To be clear, if that is true, it could mean #B16172 is one of the fastest if not fastest variants identified to date… 2.4x faster than original.
4) Some say the @GISAID data above (magenta for #B16172) is biased over reporting. But while 12 cases of #B16172 was reported in GISAID database, 19 samples were submitted to NYC’s Pandemic Lab that was #B16172. Thus, in NYC at least, it was underreported.

3) I want people to consider this… Dr @larrybrilliant, who once led the eradication of smallpox off the face of the Earth 45 years ago—is worried as heck about #B16172. It’s not just me/ @chrischirp concerned… the preeminent pandemic epidemiologist in the world is worried too!!

MIXING VACCINES—New study from Spain indicates it is likely safe to have taken AstraZeneca then switch to the Pfizer vaccine for 2nd dose—found to be “highly immunogenic and safe.” Neutralization with Pfizer for second dose increased 7 fold. #COVID19 🧵

When you goto the grocery store, can you trust someone is vaccinated if he/she not wearing a mask?

The USDA has just been sued by doctors for urging Americans to go big on milk, cheese and other dairy—claiming that the Trump USDA’s 2020 dietary guidelines are looking out for the interests of the meat and dairy industries rather than health. 🧵
