AAG Dhyan Chinnappa mentions a memo filed for the release of seized vehicles during the lockdown on execution of personal bond in the entire state. (similar order was passed last year)
CJ: Was the amount increased in the second wave from Rs 1,500 because the second wave requires more stringent implementation?
ORDER
Bench: Now state is seeking relief which is applicable to entire State. We have perused earlier order of April 30. Considering the fact that, 1.37 two-wheelers, 7000 plus vehicles, it may be difficult for the State to find parking...
....Courts of Judicial Magistrates will be overburdened if owners approach Courts for custody. We propose to pass the same order in Para 10 of April 30, with the modification that in case of good vehicles with more than 4 wheels, the deposit amount will be Rs 2000.
Accordingly, we pass following order (paras 10 (1 and 2) of April 30 order with modification)
We clarify that this order will apply across the State of Karnataka....
We make it clear that if vehicles are seized by police officers for similar breaches as set out in April 30 order, custody can be handed over to owners on the same terms and conditions : Bench
