Hearing begins.

#BombayHighCourt
AG: On June 2, an order was passed, which says that in as much as oxygen and Remdesivir is concerned, there is no issues.
Today it is kept for #Mucormycosis issues and #Covid third wave preparations.

#BombayHighCourt
AG: In so far as #Mucormycosis is considered, total patients affected are 5126...
Medicine which is required to treat - #AmphotericinB . Satte has also initiated process for house manufacturing through Haffkeine. The first batch is due on June 10, 2021.

#BombayHighCourt
AG: The entire 40k of the first batch is expected to come to Maharashtra entirely.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid_19
Court: You say no of affected persons is 5126. #AmphotericinB supply will be 40k. So that is more than enough.

AG: No that is what I am trying to submit. It is not one patient, one vial, one day..

#BombayHighCourt #Covid_19
AG: Treatment of #Mucormycosis requires 4-5 vials, per patient per day for 3 weeks. That is the course. The requirement is 14k vials per day. The central govt allotment is 3-4k vials per day.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid_19
AG: From 3200, the number has gone up to 5126.

Court: But then Singh has submitted here..

AG: No that is total figure. We are on per day figure here.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid_19
AG shows details of districts of government hospitals in each district which has #Mucormycosis patients and the distribution of #AmphotericinB.

Court: So Nagpur is maximum, then Pune..

#BombayHighCourt #Covid_19
ASG Anil Singh says that the Union’s allocation for Maharashtra is over 91000.

Court: The state has placed an order over and above the Union’s allocation.
How many cases are there?

#BombayHighCourt #Covid #Mucormycosis
AG submits that as on date there are over 6000 cases in Maharashtra as on June 7, 2021.

Court: There is a shortage of drugs. At least quarter of the allocation of the country should come to Maharashtra.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid #Mucormycosis
Court muses if the State can place orders over and above the allocation of the Centre.

ASG: The State places order, we merely allocate.

Court: So you have to show us the numbers. How many patients are there in other states? We want to see if there is an equitable allocation.
Court to ASG: There are advisories on how #Mucormycosis is spreading, what are the indicators, what are the symptoms, what can be the precaution? Is this being given wide publicity?

#BombayHighCourt #Covid
Adv Atharva Dandekar submits that #Mucormycosis prognosis is very fast. Within a week of contracting the disease, it spreads to the eye, and soon into the brain.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid
Dandekar: Although it is not contagious, the rate at which it is rising is alarming.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid #Mucormycosis
Court: This disease happens to people without COVID too..

AG: Yes, especially if you are diabetic.

Court: It happens with any co-morbidity.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid #Mucormycosis
AG (for paediatric task force): Paediatric Task Force is appointed by Government of Maharashtra. GR issued on 25.5.2021. Task force has conducted meetings of Private Practitioners, health staff in rural areas and ASHA workers.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid
AG: Specific protocols are being prepared by the task force for paediatric age group. In the meantime, the protocol prepared by the Central Government in this regard is being followed.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid
Court: And what is the cause now? Children are affected now and not before?

AG: Mutation.. of the virus.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid
Court expresses concern over a death of a child due to COVID in Palghar.

Asks the AG to find out details.

#BombayHighCourt #Covid
