Break the Cycle: This week has left me with a sense of bewilderment. On the one hand I feel an enormous sense of love. I also feel inspired we share the truth for justice. Along side so many talent minds, such as former Prime Ministers, 1/14 #HealingTrauma#Justice4Australia
current politicians, journalists, teachers, medical experts, lawyers, professors, scientists, healers, poets, artists, adventurists, observers and many more loving and passionate Australians. 2/14
On the other hand, the Morrison Government makes no sense to me in the 21 Century. Are they trying to gain or lose voters? It seems they will lose Australian women who still feel unsafe and unheard. Older Australians in an increasing Aged Care crisis. 3/14
First Nation Australians who experience pages of ongoing human rights abuse. Australians below the poverty line in housing crisis and welfare not enough to survive. Australians with a disability and unclear future of NDIS. 4/14
Australians who value Medicare. Australians who want an effective Covid-19 strategy, including appropriate quarantine facilities, to carry on with life. Stranded Australians still abandoned abroad. Indian Australians left for dead in their darkest hour. 5/14
Australians who want Tharnicaa, Kopika, Priya and Nades sent home to Biloela. Australians who want to reform broken systems, like our Refugee System or Criminal Justice System, that perpetuate racism, prejudice, division, trauma, addiction, 6/14
poverty, homelessness, violence, crime and suicide. Sensible and compassionate Australians, who want humane, lawful, trauma informed, evidence based systems, for increasingly unpredictable times. Australians who want to tackle climate change. 7/14
Australians who have shifted from self esteem (i.e. the obsession with being special and above average; βsurvival of the fittestβ; leaving many behind to die) to self compassion (i.e. kindness, common humanity and mindfulness; βenlightenmentβ). 8/14
Whether we are actively involved or have absolutely no idea, this is the majority. A majority that consists of some extraordinarily talented minds. How many Australians have no idea that right now you are fighting for their lives? How many refugees are thankful you exist? 9/14
How many Indian Australians know you consider them as family? How many children, like Tharnicaa and Kopika, will learn one day, you only wanted whatβs best for them? How many elders know you want them to feel valued, respected and dignified, before they die? 10/14
Even if millions of Australians are unaware of increasingly traumatic and divided times. This does not take away the level of regard, from so many walks of life, fighting for their lives. It blows my mind. Thank you for being you. Sharing what you have learnt with me. 11/14
Thank you for letting me be me. Sharing what Iβve learnt with you. I do hope we end injustice. It will prevent ill health, trauma and suicide. I do hope one day Australians, and friends from lands across the seas, feel without question, safe, accepted and connected here. 12/14
More than anything else, I hope every life experiences a sense of love and belonging. This only requires insight and the choice to break the cycle: the negative operation of power. I hope Australia can be the change required. So all life can thrive. 13/14
The Andrew and Renata Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at the University of NSW Sydney is the worldβs leading research centre dedicated to the study of international refugee law. 1/10 #HealingTrauma#Justice4Australia#GameOver#HomeToBilo@KaldorCentre
Beautifully, the Centre was founded in October 2013 by former βrefugeesβ Andrew and Renata Kaldor who were awarded honorary doctorates by the University of NSW Sydney in November 2018. 2/10 #GameOver#HomeToBilo
The Centre undertakes rigorous research on the most pressing displacement issues in Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and around the world, and contributes to public policy by promoting legal, sustainable and humane solutions to forced migration. 3/10 #GameOver#HomeToBilo
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians represent 25,000+ specialists. @TheRACP call on the Australian Government to immediately release Tharnicaa, Kopika, Priya and Nades from detention and to send them home to Biloela. 1/4 ππ§Έ #HealingTrauma#Justice4Australia#HomeToBilo
End cruelty. Join humanity. 2/4 ππ§Έ #HomeToBilo
End cruelty. Join humanity. 3/4 ππ§Έ #HomeToBilo
Do violations of human rights, breaching international laws, being condemned by 40+ countries means something to you @ScottMorrisonMP? Why did you decline #March4Justice? When was the last time we all united in solidarity? Some say the greatest threat to humanity is apathy. π
Intergenerational Trauma: My humble two cent for First Nations Australians. Every year I hear Australians say βWhy should I say sorry? I didnβt do anything!β, βIf their culture is so good why did they adopt ours?β 1/13 β€οΈ #HealingTrauma#AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe
or βWhy do they drink so much and waste their money?β βThat was so long ago! Why canβt they move on and get over it?β So, intergenerational trauma does not work that way. You donβt just get over Genocide. 2/13
Or school kids calling you the [James] βCook Killer!β because the History Teacher taught it. No parents to cry to. You were taken away. Or going to Church listening to migrant children allowed to speak Italian or Japanese, yet strictly banned from speaking your language. 3/13
Only yesterday (1962) First Nations Australians were allowed to vote in elections. It was not compulsory, unlike for other Australians. The 2021 Human Rights Watch World Report: Australia @hrw has pages of ongoing abuses. When will we have a Trauma Informed Australia? β€οΈ #Auspol
