Overall .. despite today's 195 cases in #Penang .. we are still seeing a Downward Trend in #COVID19 cases.. Data presented is for period of 4th Jun till 21st Jun 2021.. 1/n

First a #throwback for comparison, especially the Sporadic or Unlinked #COVID19 cases in #Penang which hit a high of 68% from 10th May till 3rd Jun 2021.. 2/n

Then, it was a rising trend of not only total #COVID19 cases in #Penang but also percentage of sporadic cases.. from 55.4% between 19th Mac till 9th May 2021 till the 68.5% for 10/5 till 3/6.. 3/n

But looking at the period of 4/6 till 21/6.. the sporadic #COVID19 cases have dropped till 53.4%, down from the previous 68.5% .. meaning more cases are attributed & traced to a cluster, which is good and not left as of unknown origin !! .. 4/n

Workplace, especially Factories still make the bulk of Cluster cases..
74.8% (4/6 - 21/6), yet it's a drop from the previous 76.2% (10/5 - 3/6) or even the 75.2% (19/3 - 9/5) .. 5/n

BUT the most encouraging trend is the drop in cases from Close Contacts, Workplace Screening, Symptomatic Screening & Self Screening.. it's been a Downward Trend.. and we hope this continues, to show the benefits of this Lockdown in #Malaysia .. 6/n

Today, #Penang saw a rise in cases & maybe a rise in other categories of #COVID19 screenings ?
But was it so ? .. just 44 from Close Contact, 12 from Symptomatic Screening, 5 other screening.. Cluster cases are from testing done on people connected to earlier cases.. 7/n

One thing #Penang shows is its low Positivity Rate !! Based on figures between 13/6 & 19/6, it was 3.36%, well below the WHO threshold of 5.0% that might indicate under-testing.. 8/n

Conclusion: Downtrend is there.. but everyone needs to do their part, carry out our responsibility..
1) masking
2) social distancing
3) cleansing upon returning home
and even, if we are business owners,
4) ensure good ventilation

A #throwback about testing done in #Malaysia on #COVID19 Close Contacts.. In case to those unaware, there was an earlier Jan 13 circular that stated only Symptomatic Close Contacts are to be tested !!
It has since been rescinded by DG in early Feb 2021..
