I’ve done email marketing for dozens of stores now.

Here are 3 ways I (almost always) avoid the spam folder:
Emails that don't get delivered are worthless.

If you land in the junk folder?

You're not making money.

Even worse:

The more you land in spam, the more it will happen.

It's a bad cycle you DO NOT want to get into.

Follow these 3 steps to avoid the junk folder all costs 👇
1. Segmentation

Email recipients have the option to mark emails as spam.

This will impact your 'sender reputation' and tell email providers that you are junk mail (which you aren't)

To ensure this doesn't happen, you need to segment your list.
If you send irrelevant content to your subscribers, some will hit spam.

Soo...

Segment your list based on interests.

(Ex. keto segment, low-fat segment, etc.)

Only send emails to segments that will be interested.

This will ensure your subscribers aren't marking you as spam.
2. Avoid trigger words

Email providers are great at sorting junk mail based on content.

Certain words will trigger spam filters.

These include:

- free
- live
- discount
- price
- offer
- deal
- money
- miracle
- prize
- risk
- promotion
- exclusive
- limited
- order
- buy
So, use these sparingly in your emails.

Here's a more complete list of spam words to avoid

Have fun:

Pro tip:

Use something like spamanalyse.com to 'scan' your email for potential spam words.
3. Clean your list

This is key.

Eliminate subscribers who don't know who you are OR aren't interested in getting your emails.

(aka the people who give spam complaints)

Here's how:

> remove bounced/invalid emails

> remove unengaged subs

> turn on double optin (if needed)
Avoiding spam is just one aspect of email marketing.

My course covers *everything else* you need to:

1) Make sales with your own email list

2) Sell email marketing as a service for $2k+/mo

**Intro To Segmentation 101**

Segmenting your list is key.

It improves engagement, open rates, and sales…

...but you need to know what segments to set up.

(otherwise it's pointless)

Here are 5 segments that are 100% essential 👇

// THREAD //
NOTE: These segments are mostly for eCommerce stores...

BUT can also apply to other business models (info products, affiliate, etc.)

Also:

I go into each segment (and others) PLUS how to create each one in my email course 👉 chasedimond.podia.com/email-marketin…

Let's get into it...
Segment #1 - Buyers

The subscribers most likely to buy your products?

The ones who have already purchased from you.

Very simple.

You can send more emails to this segment than others.

You'll also want to segment buyers based on categories/products purchased.

Every great email has 5 parts:

1. Subject Line
2. Headline
3. Body
4. Image
5. CTA

The better you execute each?

The better your email + more $$$.

Here are 3 actionable tips & tricks to improve for each part.

(for freelancers, agencies, + Ecom store owners)

// THREAD //
1. Subject Line

IMO the biggest factor in getting your emails opened is the 'From' line (you).

The next biggest factor?

The subject line.

3 tips:

- test, test, test
- create open loops + target curiosity whenever possible
- shorter subject lines (usually) perform better
2. Headline/Lead

Your email should start with either a headline or lead.

This is very important.

3 tips:

- first sentence/headline should be short + attention grabbing
- if possible, imply a benefit of reading the email
- create an open loop (to be closed in email)

Questions and thoughts I had at each stage.

$0-$10k/m:

This is hard.

How does this all work?

$10k-$50k/m:

Okay this is interesting. How do we continue to level up?

Who do I hire & where do I find them?

$50k-$100k/m:

Damn wish we documented more.

How do I remove myself
from the day-to-day?

How do we make sure we retain clients and team members?

How much further can we scale?

$100k-$250k/m:

Wow this is crazy. Is this real?

Payroll is getting expensive.

What can we do to diversify revenue?

How do we continue to generate enough leads?

We
need to level up everything we’re doing (systems, processes, etc).

$250k-$500k/m:

Insanely proud of what we’ve built.

6 figure monthly payroll keeps me up at night.

What’s next? Do we sell? Do we hold onto the biz and keep growing it?

Where do I spend a bulk of my time?

An okay email with a great subject line will outperform a great email with an okay subject line,

Every time.

Here’s a list on 7 subject lines that just work

Quick thread: Image
Before we begin, let’s get one thing straight:

The subject line doesn’t sell the product, it sells the open.

And to sell the open, you need to intrigue your subs.

These are all subject lines engineered for INTRIGUE:
1)

The X you don’t have (yet)

Creates mystery and triggers our desire for instant gratification.
