Feeling Sorry for Elizabeth Holmes 🧵:
Elizabeth Holmes did everything that Musk has gotten away with. And she didn't kill anyone. In fact, she was just a few years shy of making it as Fraud Queen and gaining invincibility. Here's why:

Holmes had a powerful, influential board, full of political heavyweights like Kissinger, Frist, Shultz, Perry and Mattis. She had big name investors and partners. She had the balls to push vaporware. She had the steel to stare into the camera and gaslight even experts. 2/10

She would never back down from challengers, and instead plowed ahead and doubled down. She recruited excellent talent and pushed them to their limits. She had money rolling in.

And she actually went to Stanford and was a bona fide Stanford dropout. cc: @elonmusk 3/10

All Holmes needed was to last until the SPAC boom. Holmes' problem was that she didn't have the huge wave of public buy-in, unlike $TSLA. She would have put on a fabulous roadshow. She could have made promises like using raised cash to buy Walgreens and turning it into... 4/10

...a concierge healthcare chain with Theranos tech. She could promise cancer, HIV, Alzheimer's, and autism blood tests with a finger prick. Her magnetic personality and outlandish projections would attract the same type of invested retail fanboys and cultists as $TSLA. 5/10

Because the main lesson of $TSLA is that only Stonk Price Bro matters. Holmes would cultivate pumpers, bots, and access journalists like Musk would have. $THRNS would have printed shares and exploded into a $100 B valuation. Critics would be doxxed, SWATted, and silenced. 6/10

Criticism would be met with derision like "She's saving lives!" and "She's an innovator!" and "You're a hater because she's so successful!" and "You're an evil shorter of $THRNS!"
And Holmes would be untouchable. She would be the one to tell the SEC to "S. Elizabeth's C." 7/10

Holmes would be paying her board $25 M a year to lobby on her behalf. And the FDA and CMS would have done NOTHING, just like @NHTSAgov, and in fact they would be pushing Theranos' fake results as true, just like NHTSA pushed #Tesla's #Autopilot data.

Holmes was So. Close. 8/10

If there is any justice in our warped reality, then Elizabeth Holmes deserves a full acquittal. Because she is charged with the very things that Elon Musk has gotten away with - Musk even dared the cops to arrest him and committed manslaughter - in broad daylight. 9/10

Holmes' only crime was that she didn't go public via SPAC, suck in loads of retail money, get Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to whore the narrative on CNBC, get Bloomberg reporters to shill for her, and buy a cult of personality that she had every right to.
