Ontario #COVID19 Recent Cases & Outcomes by Vaccination Status
(June 12/21-July 10/21, age 12+)

95.7% of cases, 97.4% of hospitalizations, 99.5% of ICU admissions, & 95.8% of deaths occurred in unvaccinated or partially vax'd individuals.

Although 30.8% of Ontarians age 12+ were fully vaccinated as of July 10, they only accounted for:
🟢4.3% of cases
🟢2.6% of hospitalizations
🟢0.5% of ICU admissions
🟢4.2% of deaths

Although only 21.7% of Ontarians age 12+ were unvaccinated as of July 10, they accounted for:
🔴57.0% of cases
🔴75.2% of hospitalizations
🔴83.9% of ICU admissions
🔴84.9% of deaths

🟢Fully vaccinated = 2nd dose stats for Jun 26 (14 days before Jul 10): 3988105 (30.8%)
🟡Partially vaccinated (includes not yet protected) = 6136705 (47.5%)
🔴Not vaccinated: 2806355 (21.7%)
(Age 12+ = 12931165 estimate by 2020 census)

Deaths💀

Difference between Jun 12 & Jul 10:
🔴Unvaccinated: +225 (84.9%)
🟡Partially vaccinated: +29 (10.9%)
🟢Fully vaccinated: +11 (4.2%)
Total: 265

Of the 11 deaths in fully vaccinated:
Age 60-69: 1
Age 80+: 10

Of the 1 fully vaccinated ICU admission:

You can use the numbers to make your own analyses.

*Only for ages 12+, unknown age/gender/vax status excluded). Based on difference in reported # from Jun 12 to Jul 10, 2021. Not accounting for data corrections to reporting dates. Definition of breakthrough case was 7d post 2nd vax as of June 12 but 14d as of July 10 (unsure why)

Please let me know if you see any errors/issues so I can fix it for the next iteration. I do my best to triple check calculations but it is not always possible to catch everything!😣

I have tried to visualize this to the best of my ability but I am not an epidemiologist.

It would be great if PHO would publish something like this regularly to show vaccination status of *recent* cases/hospitalizations/ICU/deaths.

Getting fully vaccinated significantly reduces your risk for severe outcomes!😊💪🏻💉
