Kenney says in northern Alberta, an unvaxxed worker with symptoms showed up at a hospice and spread it to six other workers and some of the patients- some who died.
Says unfair for patients/co-workers to be put in that position.

Kenney says he has been working this week at his office.
Says this was just his second two-week vacation since 2015.

Kenney says people can wear masks if they want to.
There is still an Alberta mask mandate that applies to transit/taxis/hospitals.
But they'll continue to monitor the situation.

Kenney says Alberta lost 1000+ to overdoses last year.
Some of that tied to COVID pressures.

How do you explain high infection rates with vaccine uptake where it is?
Kenney says most in hospital aren't vaccinated.
To those who say kids could transmit- says that studies show kids generally do not transmit the disease and have low risk for severe outcomes.
Kenney says 32 minors died in car accidents a couple years ago.
That compares to zero COVID deaths for kids in Alberta so far.
Kenney says 9% of people over 65 who aren't vaccinated, and that most of the people who are dying are the elderly unvaccinated.
Says they're doing everything they can to convince them to get the jab.

Kenney says they did scrap the carbon tax- but federal one came back in.
Adds that transmission charges are a pain- but its a challenge b/c it's a legacy decision from 10-12 years ago based on prediction Alberta econ wouldn't stop growing
Kenney does say the government is deep into study on how to address energy prices.
Says the only cash way would be for the government to subsidize transmission costs with tax dollars- calls it a shell game.

Any progress on vaccine under 12?
Kenney says trials are ongoing.
Says FDA trial is three months away- expects some recommendations this fall- but says regulators can't rush this.
Kenney says he hopes the trials come back and say they are 100% safe.
But on the risk side- he says zero COVID deaths under 20 in Alberta versus "let's say 30 to 40 automobile deaths in that age range."
