Maybe it’ll be better when I get to Brussels but jeez this first regular business trip in 18 months is frustrating… because it feels I’m wasting time
First the good: my ICE train is on time, very empty, % mask 😷 wearing is good, and I have coffee
But the bad: my alarm went at 5am. I’ve only got to Hagen.
Were I to have flown instead my mood and morals would be even worse, although perhaps I’d have the sense of making more progress

Berlin-Köln-Brussels isn’t a bad rail route per se, but I’ve done it so much over the years I know it like the back of my hand. There’s no discovery in it whatsoever
I need to be careful here. I have a further Brussels (and Bruges) trip end of this month. But I can’t let the future normal be like the old normal - just because we can travel for work again doesn’t mean we should
I also perhaps need to follow the @AndyBTravels @_wrzlbrnft_ lead and mix it up a bit - put in some interim stops in some places to make the trip itself more worthwhile, even if the trip is then longer
