1/9 I've had enough of #Elxn44 depravity. A death threat was broadcast about me by a podcaster you all listen to. Daily there are men on Twitter #SnitchTagging me to gun nuts to spark confrontation

#FYI I've already been shot by a 357 Magnum & I will not be intimidated by anyone

2/9 Most of you want the difficult reporting on dangerous topics that keep you up at night. But on social media, there's this trend where some of you (too many of you) throw female reporters at your enemies, as if we're virtual human shields you've nominated to fight your battles

3/9 But as you 'get your popcorn' to spectate at the events you've chosen for us to do battle, against the very entities you're afraid of, some of them try to track us down in our communities. I've had calls to my home from Yellow Vesters, Wexiters, Qanons, you name it

4/9 Will that ever stop me from reporting the facts on situations that threaten public safety? That's a firm negative

But in 2019 a CBC reporter faced attempted home invasion & family car being shot up in the driveway

In 2020 bullets flew at a Canadian Press reporter's condo

5/9 So there are consequences to the fever pitch of social media & total absence of common sense or etiquette. #SnitchTagging might be fun for you & death threats on a podcast may seem lesser because they're virtual, but it only takes 1 person becoming radicalized to make it real

6/9 #Elxn44 has also crossed the Rubicon on matters of violence. Certain partisan actors are actively radicalizing the most unpredictable sectors of society, in the identical manner as Trump. Some in 🇨🇦 have even joined forces with the 🇺🇸 NRA & planners of the US insurrection

7/9 And what you don't know could hurt someone. Currently there are several outspoken progressives who've had to lock their Twitter accounts to protect themselves from attack. In that way they've been muzzled from influencing their peers in what's supposed to be a democratic elxn

8/9 One progressive woman you all know is too rattled to speak of her experience & doesn't want to discourage anyone from participating in #Elxn44. But she had to call police when one of the radicalized showed up at her home in a rage, threatening to stalk her & kill her pets

9/9 So please let me be very clear

I'm not putting up with this. I will never bow to intimidation, arrogance, ignorance, or mob mentality. I do not agree to live in a #CDNpoli where it's not safe to participate in #Elxn44, or report in #CDNmedia. If you want to #FAAFO, you'll FO

And this. This is the American #NRA's endorsement of O'Toole #Conservatives. Despite filing for bankruptcy protection in the United States, they have enough in their coffers to set up in #CDNpoli to sway #Elxn44 in favour of #gun rights
