The 30 Mio. cars in Britain use 40.000 Mio. liters of fuel per year, equivalent to fill a 60l-Tank 22 times a year, or about once every 17 days. Gas stations are typically resupplied every 2-3 days. When 20% of all cars want to fill up on one day, they will suck... #fuelshortage
...all fuel stations dry. On the next day, only 1/2-1/3 of the gas station would normally be supplied, leaving up to 2/3 of the stations dry, and unless you increase fuel transports well above "normal", this 1/3 of the pumps that got fuel will we sucked dry ... #fuelshortage
...again the same day through the normal daily demand, leaving 1/2-2/3 of the pumps dry indefinitely. Eventually people might relax and tank less than normal and let their car tank levels drop, but why would they while 2/3 of the pumps are still dry? #fuelshortage
If you double the transports, the crisis would be over in a couple of days, but if you add let's say just 10% transports, you might still not meet demand because supply was lower than normal demand before the crisis started. #fuelshortage
In fact, some pumps had to close because they could not be supplied was what triggered the run. People in the UK did not just start to fuel up for no reason. People nowhere outside the UK did. #fuelshortage
If people could and would believe Johnson that things will normalize when everyone would let the fuel levels in their cars drop, things would improve quickly when normal demand is really met, but people can't and won't believe it until they see it. #fuelshortage
That's the problem when you can't trust what the government says in a crisis. That will severly limit the options and make things worse than they would have to be and lengthen the crisis. #fuelshortage
I hope for the almost half of the people who voted against #brexit that things will get better soon, and it also isn't the fault of the 52% brexiteers. They didn't vote for that, but it is an unintended direct consequence of their vote, so my suggestion would be that...
...these 52% just take and make the fucking jobs they drove the foreigners out of or start to push for things being done differently and reverse some decisions and ask foreigners very nicely to come back and offer them even a more generous future in your country than before.
In other words: You can either take the jobs or kiss foreigner' asses until they take them back, or things probably won't improve. How should they if they if you keep doing things the same way that got you into this mess in the first place? #fuelshortage
Im am not being rude, but I am also German, so I might lack the courtesy of English people when laying down some facts. And things are not that bad, compared to how bad they can get when you continue to not fix the problems. #fuelshortage
You might cling to the hope that things just will magically get better by themselves, or that the government will somehow fix it, but I see no other options than those I laid out. Now way around the work must be done by someone. I wish you good luck, United Kingdom. #fuelshortage
