[THREAD] 1. How to get a digital vaccination certificate
(Milani Wolmarans, @heatlhza)

Who can download a digital vaccination certificate in SA?
Anyone who:
* Has access to the internet
* Who's been fully vaccinated
* Whose vaccination details have been entered into the #EVDS.
2. What does it mean to be fully vaccinated?

You need have had:
1. One shot of the #JnJ vaccine

OR

2. Two shots of the #Pfizer vaccine
3. To download your digital vaccination certificate, go to this website: vaccine.certificate.health.gov.za
4. The website will ask you to enter details. You will need:
1. The nr of the ID you used when you registered on the #EVDS (this can be: SA ID, foreign/SA passport, refugee permit, asylum seeking nr)
2. At least 1 vaccination code you received via sms after your vaccination(s)
5. You will be asked to enter your name, surname, ID nr and one vaccination code (if you got the #Pfizer vaccine, which consists of 2 shots, you would have received 2 codes; you only need to enter one of them to download your vaccination card).
6. If you didn't receive a vaccination code via sms, or if you've deleted it from your phone, you can phone the COVID hotline to resend you the sms with the code.
#COVID19 hotline: 0800 029 999
7. If you phone the #COVID hotline to get your vaccination code and they tell you there are no details of your vaccination in the #EVDS, it means your vaccination site has not yet entered your details. You then need to go back to the site and ask them to enter your details.
8. Once you've entered your name, ID and vaccination code on the vaccination card website, it will ask you to confirm the cell phone nr you used when you registered on the #EVDS (this is the same nr that your vaccination code was sent to).
9. A one time pin (OTP) number will be sent to your cell phone (you have to use the cell phone nr you used when registering on the #EVDS). Enter that number on your screen.
10. You will then receive your digital vaccination certificate. It will contain your name, surname, ID nr, date of birth, the name of the vaccine you received, the date of vaccination(s) and your vaccination code(s).
11. There will be a note at the bottom of your digital vaccination card that tells you that your card will be updated with more security measures. This will happen by the end of Oct and you will then have to download the updated version again from the same website.
12. How will you know when you need to download the updated version of your card? @healthza will make announcements so that you know when this is ready for download.
13. How can you store your digital vaccination card?

You can save it on a smart phone, download a pdf from the site and email it to yourself or someone else, save it on your computer, or print it.
14. There is a QR code on your vaccination card, but that code doesn't yet work. It will work at the end of Oct, when software has been finalised and will then also contain a digital or cryptographic signature that will prevent someone from falsifying/copyhing the information.
15. Will other countries accept SA's digital vaccination card when a person from SA wants to travel internationally? The UK has confirmed that it will accept the card, most other countries should as well, but it depends on the policy of the country.
16. Will you always have to go to the government's website to download your card? No. Within the next 2 months, @healthza will launch a mobile add via which you will be able to access your card.
17. What do you do if you had 1 #COVID19 shot in SA and 1 in another country? You can download a card that will reflect the shot your had in SA. For the other shot, you'll need to get a certificate from the country where you had it. You'll therefore have to carry 2 certificates.
18. Can you download your digital vaccination certificate more than once?

Yes, but only 3-4 times per day.

[THREAD] 1. Q&A: Digital #COVID19 vaccine card answers

Why has @heatlhza made the digital vaccine card website live if it isn't fully ready for use?

They have to test the functionality of the site in a live environment (run tests while the site is live).
2. Is the #COVID19 digital vaccination card site fully functional yet?

No, tests are still being run. The site will be fully functional on Friday morning, when SA’s digital vaccination cards will be officially launched.
3. If you’ve managed to download a #COVID19 digital vaccination card on Tu/We, is the card valid?

Yes, but not indefinitely. It will eventually be replaced with an updated version with more security measures (all cards will be replaced, not just the ones downloaded before Fri).

[Thread] 1. #Ramaphosa:
1. 60% of 60+ and 50% of people of 50-59 years have received at least one #COVID vaccine dose
2. @healthza's goal = to vaccinate 70% of adults by the end of the year. This could save up to 20 000 lives.
2. #Ramaphosa:
1. To reach the goal of vaccinating 70% of adults by the end of 2021, we need to vaccinate 16 mil more this year
2. That means we need to vaccinate 250 000 people each week day
3. #Ramaphosa
1. SA is launching #VoomaVaccination weekend on Friday. This weekend is the first in a series of Vooma weekends.
2. Why? Because not enough people are turning up for vaccinations (we need to do 250 000 per day to reach our goal; today we did 146 190)

[Thread] #JoePhaahla: We note the allegations of financial misconduct against @healthza DDG Anban Pillay (Pillay was the acting DG in the health dpt when the #DigitalVibes contract was awarded).
2. #JoePhaahla: There is possible misconduct from 9 gov officials. Not all 9 are working in @healthza. The chief financial officer has moved to another dpt. There are 6 officials in @healthza who we may need to take action @. If we add the suspended DG (Sandile Buthelezi) = 7.
3. #JoePhaahla: @healthza will institute disciplinary action @ implicated officials in the SIU's #DigitalVibes report as a matter of urgency. All those implicated by the SIU will receive suspension letters by the end of today (Thu, 30 Sep), incl DDG Anban Pillay.

[Thread] 1. What's the LATEST on SA's #VaccinePassports?

@healthza:
1. If all goes well, digital vaccine cards will become available to vaccinated people in SA on Oct 5
2. @healthza will announce next week if cards will be available to both fully + partially vaccinated people

1. You'll have to download it from a website (it won't be the #EVDS, it will be a new website)
2. If you have a smart phone, you'll be able to download it onto your phone + keep a record (similar to what you do with a plane ticket)
3. What should you do if you don't have a smartphone?
1. You will need someone with access to the internet (on a computer = fine)
2. You will be able to download and print the digital card (the printed version will have a QR code that can be digitally scanned)
