Another big ticket reform by Modi Government with CCEA-empowered Committee of Ministers approving the bid by Talace Pvt Ltd, subsidiary of Tata Sons, for acquisition of Air India. With this, Maharaja returns to the Tatas 68 years after it was nationalised by a Socialist PM.
1n
The Tatas’ winning bid for Air India was Rs 18000 crore. The floor price was Rs 12906 cr.
Tatas will get 100% shareholding in Air India and Air India Express, and 50% shareholding in Air India’s ground service AISATS.
The formal handover will happen by end-December 2021.
2n
Air India disinvestment does not include non-core assets like land and buildings, valued at Rs 14718 crore. These will be transferred to GoI’s Air India Asset Holding Ltd.
3n
Tatas will be able to merge Vistara and Air Asia with Air India. But they cannot sell/transfer Air India brands and their 8 logos for 5 years. Even after that, Air India brands and logos cannot be sold/transferred to a foreign entity.
4n
Loss-making Air India’s debts stood at Rs 61562 crore on 30 August 2021. Tatas will pick up debts amounting to Rs 15300 crore.
All staff will be retained for first year. In second year Tatas can decide how many of the staff to retain. Rest will be offered VRS.
5n
The Air India disinvestment was done in a hundred per cent transparent manner with multilayered checks. Once again, the twin-hallmark of Modi Government — integrity and transparency— have been re-established with today’s Air India sale announcement.

Personal is political.
I first met Modi Ji during MM Joshi’s ‘Ekta Yatra’ in 1991-92.
Since then I have seen the making of a leader whose intentions, integrity and immense capacity to not only ideate but translate ideas into action are beyond dispute.
#20yearsofSevaSamarpan
At a deeply personal level, my views have been influenced by:
Distaste for Nehru Dynasty
Revulsion towards corruption
Ayodhya movement
I grew up, came of age, worked in a India with little hope.
Atal Ji was the harbinger of change.
Modi Ji is *the* change.
#20yearsofSevaSamarpan
Atal Ji called for abrogation of Art 370 at historic Kashmir rally at Boat Club in 1991.
Modi Ji organised MM Joshi’s Kanyakumari to Srinagar ‘Ekta Yatra’ culminating on Republic Day 1992.
On 5 August 2019 Modi Sarkar abrogated Art 370 and 35A.

“In the eyes of the world, being PM and CM may be very big thing but in my own eyes, these are ways to do something for the people. I keep myself detached... And due to that, I am able to think like a common citizen and walk on my path of duty.”
PM @narendramodi to @Openthemag

“I don’t get awed by the trajectory of my own life. I get awed by the kind of country we are and our people, who can pick a poor child and make him reach where I have. I feel privileged that the people have given me such huge responsibilities…”
PM @narendramodi

“I feel 130 crore people of India have the same capabilities I have. What I have achieved, can be achieved by anyone. As for me selling tea as a child and later becoming the PM, I see this very differently from how you see it. If I can, anyone can.”

Gets worse by the day.
@TwitterIndia does not have a local resident grievance officer as required by law in #India
An address in San Francisco and a US email address is 'local' for @jack but not for Government of India where sovereign laws and not Jack Company rules apply.
Meanwhile, after apologising and correcting distorted map of India previously @Twitter cocks a snook again. It shows #Ladakh as part of #China ; #JammuAndKashmir as separate country.
This is no mistake. This is deliberate distortion by @jack Company to dare Government of #India
Actually, @Twitter is a habitual and serial offender. It continues to compound its offences while hiding behind bumkum on #FreeSpeech
No worries, @TwitterIndia can run but it cannot hide.

In guise of angst, anything goes.
Removal of Article 370 was first demanded by Bharatiya Jana Sangh; SP Mookerji died for it. It has been a constant in BJS and later BJP manifesto.
Ram Mandir was a VHP issue in 1987-88. BJP adopted it via Palampur Resolution in 1989.
#KnowFacts
What would angsters have done had they been around when #BJP was down to 2 MPs in Lok Sabha?
Or even earlier when BJS was decimated and party lost nearly all legislators in Rajasthan after Bhairon Singh declared support for zamindari abolition?
Or when a young LK Advani spurned a (then) promising alliance with Ram Rajya Parishad because Swami Karpatri Maharaj openly advocated casteism and untouchability?
Or, when a nascent BJS bravely confronted the powerful Swami Narayan sect over temple entry?

My father passed away this morning. He was #COVID positive.

नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः। न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः॥
ॐ शान्ति।। 🙏
His last days were on a hospital bed, on oxygen.
He spent his working life setting up oxygen units at hospitals. His work at PGIMR Chandigarh in mid-1960s drew attention of Tatas. He shifted to Jamshedpur where he set up O2 unit at TMH and other hospitals. It was his passion.
My father was rarely home. My early memories of him were of endless tours of outstation hospitals to install, check, repair O2 lines. He and his labour gang would rush out at odd hours to attend to leaks and blocks. The phone at home would usually receive urgent calls from TMH.
