🤖 Ask people "What is blockchain?" and they will tell you about "Bitcoins" That's nonsense!

Here's how I explain Blockchain to my non-tech friends. 🧵 (Thread) ⬇️ #blockchain

Simply put, " Blockchain is PUBLIC Ledger" Let me explain. ⬇️

You wake up in the morning & during your commute you decide you want some coffee, you stop by 7/11 to grab .99c coffee with your credit card. ⬇️

You get to work, your friends say " you are super energetic" you reply saying " yah, i grabbed Starbucks on the way". WELL... DID YOU? NO. TECHNICALLY, YOU ARE LYING. ⬇️

The only 2 parties that know which coffee you had was: Your BANK & YOU. This is a PRIVATE LEDGER. ⬇️

Now imagine this, you have created a GOOGLE SHEETS (excel) and put a link to it on your bio on ig/twitter/fb.Once you created this excel sheet, you can NEVER delete it, you cannot alter it and everyone in your town also has a current copy of it. This is called PUBLIC LEDGER ⬇️

⭕️The one REALLY cool thing about this "PUBLIC Excel SHEET" is that a lot of computers around the globe are making real-time copies. If i go back to my google sheet and say I went to Starbucks. The change will be rejected because other computers will say " that's not true"⬇️

That's what a blockchain is. It's a Public "excel sheet" that cannot be altered. As @coffeebreak_YT says " BLOCKCHAIN NEVER LIES" Let's talk about possible usage of blockchain that makes sense to average folks ⬇️

🚗 You go to buy a car at the used dealership, Salesman says " it's been only driven by 1 person" He will show you "carfax" but technically that's a "private ledger". Don't you wish you could see all the trips car has made throughout? Blockchain helps! ⬇️

🗳 Elections:( Hear me out ) It's election day, you wake up. Walk to your computer and vote. You would think " oh, it can be changed, it can be manipulated, but with proper protocol, it can be the most secure thing. ⬇️forbes.com/sites/vipinbha…

📣 Here is the thing: Blockchain is here to stay. People hear blockchain and say " i hate bitcoins". Thats fine, but you must understand what blockchain is and how it's going to make your life easier ( or harder if you are trying to launder and commit fraud).⬇️
