Very thankful to have gotten my booster #COVID19 vaccine!!🙏🏻☺️💪🏻 #gratitude 🧵
I know there is debate over boosters because of global vaccine inequity. Additionally, many Canadians who may benefit from a booster (people with medical conditions/disabilities) do not yet have access, & many people around the world cannot even access a 1st dose.
However, in *some* countries/areas with low vaccination rates & high cases, there is ample supply but still vaccine hesitancy.
Even locally, we are now worried again about rising ICU usage for severe COVID-19 infections mostly in unvaccinated people. cnn.com/2021/10/01/eur…
So I am posting to encourage people to get vaccinated, not just here, but around the world. Encouraging 1st & booster doses, & vaccine access/equity are all important!💪🏻
Additionally, I do house calls for palliative cancer patients & see seniors in retirement homes, newborn babies & pregnant & immunocompromised people.
Getting a booster helps to reduce the risk of transmission to vulnerable patients.
I also have a 99yo family member to see👵🏻💕
And yes we do assess patients with COVID19 symptoms in person!
(If infectious symptoms often will do parking lot visits, including option for outdoor testing)
So this time, my arm was a bit more sore than the last two times. I also had fatigue, mild headache, muscle aches, & chills. Lasted about 48 hours, had some Advil & noodles*, then back to normal.😊
(*this is not a medical recommendation🍜👀)
For reference, my first two shots were over 10 months ago in Jan 2021 (20 days apart - short interval).
For first shot, mild ache at injection site for about 48 hours. For second shot, about the same as first but some very mild fatigue. All three shots were Pfizer.
Ps. Vaccines are an excellent layer of protection, in addition to quality masks, distancing, ventilation, & test&trace.
All the layers TOGETHER fight against this airborne virus, & help to save lives, prevent #LongCovid, reduce outbreaks, avoid lockdowns, & end the pandemic!💪🏻
