FLORIDA—Surpassing all-time #COVID19 high with hospitalizations surging like clockwork behind the case rise. Some claimed Florida was as “herd” and #Omicon protected because of recent July-September #DeltaVariant wave. This looks unlikely.

2) if even England is already exceeding hospitalization forecasts, will Florida do any better? Doubtful. 👇
3) Will Floridians follow the CDC to the T? Or even take enough precautions in face of already muddy CDC guidelines like this??
4) Florida’s governor has been missing in action for 12 days — all while a wildfire is burning, and his surgeon general is merely complaining about MAB drugs but not getting ahead of actual transmission.
5) Also, schools reopen next week in Florida (with state mask mandate bans)… we need to also wear better N95 masks, or at least KN95 or KF94. Sadly there is no pediatric N95. So try to find kids KN95 online.
6) Florida will not do better than France, that is pretty clear. French COVID is at its own all time high too.

⚠️CDC MADE IT WORSE—The @CDCgov is so out of whack right now—@CDCDirector quietly **without any notice** revised the unscientific 5-day isolation press release from just “asymptomatic” to “or symptoms are resolving”. ➡️Plus “resolving” is even more useless & dangerously vague—🧵 ImageImage

3) Yesterday I warned that this vague language will definitely enable if not encourage people to skirt the isolation rules. This will only cause more infections!

Let this sink in—@Delta Airlines first lobbied @CDCgov to change #COVID19 isolation rules—got its way a few days later. Then Delta proceeds to further dilute the new lax CDC rules. And then Delta slashes sick leave for workers. ➡️ Delta Airlines wants to make COVID great again.
2) You almost can’t make up a more heinous story than this. @Delta will only offer 5 days of paid sick leave for #COVID19 — if you are still sick and need to isolate longer, tough shit, says Delta—no paid sick leave longer. nytimes.com/2021/12/29/bus…

Dear @CDCgov—is this woman safe to stop isolating on day 5? She’s got asymptomatic #COVID19 too—her test is so positive that her test is immediately positive under 30 seconds. But @CDCDirector says it’s okay? Countless epidemiologists are upset.

2) Other countries require at least 2 negative tests taken 24 hours apart before they can exit isolation. Self reported honor system is not used. And asymptomatic #COVID19 is still contagious— have we learned nothing??? See 👇 thread 🧵
