We are in the third wave of #Covid. Community spread of #Omicron is given. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata are hot spots.

What works and what does not.
A thread of 10 points

1. It is clear that Omicron escapes Immunity acquired through #Vaccines and Previous Infection
2. Most cases of Omicron have mild infection, milder compared to Delta. This however doesn't mean that it will be mild in all cases. Some would become severe and need hospitalisation. Don't be stupid by buying into 'mild' theory
3. A lot of people are asymptomatic. So should you get tested for mild or no symptoms? Yes. Because only then you would isolate yourself and protect others. Also, better to detect it early and monitor rather than be caught off guard when saturation drops.
4. Evidence suggests that people with vaccination have less severe illness. So get your shot if you are 15+. Also, get boosters when your time comes.
#Vaccineswork #VaccinesSaveLives
5. While Omicron may escape Vaccination, masks will always be effective. So will be hand hygiene, ventilation, distancing. Avoid closed spaces. Remember Covid is airborne.
#COVIDisAirborne #MaskUp
6. Covid is not transmitted through surface contact. So don't be fussy about sanitising every item you touch. Fumigation is a waste. So are those sanitising sprays. Invest in Hand Sanitisers and use them. #SanitiseHands #handhygiene
7. Avoid traveling, shopping in markets, visiting public spaces, public transport if you can. Remember that some people can't avoid travel - they are on essential duty. Don't add to that crowd for leisure travel. No - hanging out with friends is not essential duty.
8. Take care of your #Mentalhealth. We all are going through Covid Fatigue. But let's keep the spirits up. We have been dealing with this for last two years. Let's not give up now. Video call a friend, Connect on Social media, ask for health of your near and dear ones.
9. Don't clamour for #Lockdown. Mass lockdowns don't help. They only push blue collar workers into more poverty. Not everyone can work from home. If you can please do. #WorkFromHome
10. Demand Govt to invest in Health infrastructure and human resources. To Expedite NEET counseling. Support healthcare workers.
#NEETPG

Delhi Govt claims it has great Public Healthcare Delivery system. Here is an incident that will present the real picture which is not so pleasant. A young 25 years old man from Nagaland who is preparing for UPSC in Delhi gets Fever and Rashes over body. I listen to the case and..
Suspect that it could be Dengue. The boy had just taken some meds for fever from a chemist shop with no relief. I ask his family to take him to the nearby GTB Hospital which is the largest Govt Hospital in Trans Yamuna Region of Delhi. Its around 8 PM when they visit hosp..
Firstly, the guard at the Hospital door has no clue where Casualty is and misdirects them. I wonder what if this was a case where every minute counted - like cardiac arrest. They reach casualty and are told to first get a paper before doctor can see. Paper before patient!!

To those asking why I didn't take @Olacabs or @Uber_India instead of @dtptraffic cab, here is the answer. I thought as this system is by Delhi Police @DelhiPolice it's safer for women. Also, I'm a regular Uber user but had bad experience at T2 of Delhi Airport. ...
It was some 10 PM in night when I wanted to book a cab from T2 to Jamia Hamdard. A lot of drivers cancelled on me. In one case I had to cancel as he would not and I couldn't book next. Ended up paying a Fine for Drivers mistake. Then there were unauthorised drivers who....
...kept asking if I wish to board their cab. They were in Private vehicle lane behind Uber pick up zone. Frustrated I complained to Delhi Police constable on duty there. He was supportive and came with me to check. They had fled by then as towing vehicle had come. He asked me ...

I had an absolutely horrendous experience today while returning home from Terminal 1 at Delhi Airport at 6 pm. I decide to take the Black - Yellow Cab. I gave a note of 500 for a fare of 450. The clerk at the counter hands me a 100 note and says I gave 100 instead of 500.
I thought that I made a mistake. Took 100 note and gave another 500 note. He hands me 50 back. Gives me two copies of receipts. I give the driver copy to the next driver in line and get into the cab. I had a feeling that I may have been duped at counter but I was not sure.
What follows is even worse. After some time the driver asks me how much I paid. I say 450. He says that there is a new scheme of duping customers who hand over 500 note by telling them they gave 100 note.
I sank in the seat. Gosh! This is just what happened. Then this happens...

As an opinionated Transgender Muslim Woman, I face trolling from multiple quarters. Diversity of opinions is welcome but it often comes in the form of online abuse. Here is how I maintain my calm and peace. A thread ...
I am blessed to have an awesome woman in my life - my mother. She is my pillar of support and a source of strength.
She is herself a force to reckon with and her emotional strength is infectious.
I am blessed to have an awesome set of friends and people who became part of my chosen family. I make sure to meet them, talk, vent out, cry, laugh and love.

Dear Muslims. Get Married. Okay, so while this may sound controversial, I had to say this. I think the time is right for this. There is palpable islamophobia across India whether you are in a village or Delhi, whether you work in a Govt job or as a blue-collar worker. A thread ..
Not a single day passes when new forms of attack are not unleashed on us. The conversation in every Muslim household is – How to deal with this. As a community, we need to take a lot of measures for our safety, sanity and welfare. And I have been writing about them.
One of those measures is – getting married. Yes! I would urge Single Muslims to get married if they feel they are ready for it. This can bring a lot of sense of responsibility, belonging and care. Also, keep it very simple. Don’t spend much in marriage.
