Thread 1/ Small update. On the hashtags 'I stand with Putin' and 'I stand with Russia', a new bot network has joined the fray. I have marked the cluster below. There are approx 100 bots in this cluster #UkraineRussianWar #disinformation 
2/ All the accounts tweet from Twitter Web App, and use appropriated accounts (sock puppets). Their modus operandi is to retweet a few central accounts that are, appropriately, services that offer fake followers, fake retweets etc #UkraineRussianWar
3/ The sockpuppets were real people whose accounts were hacked/sold. They come from everywhere. @VickiCotters for example, a British woman, who is now tweeting in Arabic. Her old tweets are still visible (there are photos but I won't include them). #UkraineUnderAttack
4/ A few more examples from the network. They look just like us humans! #UkraineRussianWar #disinformation
5/ I examine thousands of these accounts every year. Just think of how many of these hacked accounts are in the hands of actual sophisticated troll farms, and not just basic bots. Then you can get an idea of the scale of the problem... #basicbots #UkraineRussianWar
