I am able to sleep at night because I believe RU military personnel between Putin and whoever would actually fire a nuclear weapon are planning to stop that happening.

US Army General Mark Milley ensured the same kind of safety in the last insane days of TFG's presidency.

To understand the current Russian war against Ukraine (and quite frankly, the rest of us) it helps to understand the period before and during WWII.

Elements of the RU military right now are likely sabotaging some of Putin's plans. So I have reason for a degree of hope, despite the increasingly bad news from UKR.

If Putin manages to kill Zelenskyy that would turn a national and international hero into a martyr.

Just like Yushenkov, Politkovskaya, Litvinenko, Magnitsky, Nemtsov, and so many more.

Skripal and Navalny are still with us, but remain targets.

And there's every chance that Zelenskyy's successor as the leader of Ukrainian resistance would be just as heroic and loved as he is.

Putin may be able to succeed in destroying the country, it's freedom, and it's leader, but he and his henchmen will fail in the end.
