… The Reason why #Putin has been nagging #Ukraine almost since the signature of the #BudapestMemorandum in 1994, why #Russia annexed Crimea 2014 and why #Putin is presently invading #Ukraine.
#Putin chose to invade precisely because he knew @NATO would not immediately budge.

In essence the current situation is a demonstration that @NATO alone is no longer sufficient to maintain peace or defend it in Europe. A second non-agression, 1 for all and all for 1 agreement is required of which only ex-eastern block countries & those sharing a border with 🇷🇺

can become full members but where some members are also within @NATO so a clear hierarchy of response to any threat is definitively established.

.@ZelenskyyUa your speech to #USCongress was fantastic. Every bit of it was fantastic. But what touched me most was to realise that you thought like I did that our current international institutions @NATO @UN @OSCE @OCED they had all inexcusably failed Ukraine in the last 3 wks.

You concluded like I had that their failure to prevent the humanitarian disaster currently underway in your country was a clear sign that they are no longer fit for purpose, if they ever had been.

You suggested instead to create an organisation called U24 to get help to any nation who needs it for any reason within 24 hours. I think this is a BRILLIANT idea into which one could also incorporate agencies such as @NATO and the 2cd military alliance I suggest above.

As for @UN,?I would simply dissolve it. They have done nothing since the war started as far as I can see in terms of helping your country on any level whatsoever: political, military or humanitarian. This is unacceptable and I think it renders their very existence questionable.

Indeed @antonioguterres did not even find enough pride to throw out the Russian ambassador after he & #Putin so completely mocked the Security Council, the Institution’s highest instance, by declaring war on 🇺🇦while the ambassador himself was chairing a meeting about the crisis.
